Oneof the popular genres of music that has originated from the Caribbeanisland in West Indies is known as the Calypso. The same kind of genrewas primarily introduced by the African Slaves. This took placeduring the nineteenth century. Gradually, after the abolition ofslavery, it assumed worldwide popularity, as well. This genre ofmusic was accepted by music lovers worldwide. The popularity of thesame grew in the European countries and later it spread across theIndian subcontinent, as well. Kolkata also did not miss theopportunity and took a step forward in playing the same at partiesand other concerts, as well.
