Does anyone have experience with swapping out Mccarty Kluson tuners to a more modern-inspired locking tuners (phase ii/iii prs locking tuners are great)?

I am just wondering if this is doable (i.e. if I have to drill new holes -- which I won't do haha).

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

They sell a Kluson locking version of their tuners.

Thank you! I see that their locking Kluson tuners all have vintage style buttons and I really want to change them to something more modern -- I want to give the guitar a more modern look.

You’ll have to ream out the holes a little bit, iirc. Mounting screws may be in the right spot with the Phase III.

Also, I removed the vintage style on a ew 594 and put in a set of PIII. They were a direct fit. No further action needed.

Thank you! This is what I lowkey hoped to be the case as the phase iii tuners look like the bomb!

Also, does removing the vintage tuners leave any scars on the back of the headstock or do the PIII tuners perfectly cover them? Thanks!

They’re might be a little outline of the Klusons. I don’t have my 594 handy to look at.
