KL33 and me :)

Thanks all for the insight as always. I've decided to call her Luna short for Flor'd Luna ( Moonflower) one of my favorite songs by Carlos.
As pale as the moon, with music as pretty as a lotus blossom ..

She arrived ! and a Surprise...somebody installed a coil tap , I've got to say this thing is BRIGHT!!, not at all like my other two Santana's. It will add some diversity to the family.. and like my Korina Semi Hamer it sustains like crazy .

With stacked gain and rolled off tone the Carlos tone is there , but not quite as creamy. The neck feels a bit chunkier than my Westie, very low action, intonation spot on , the trem is decked ( I usually like a little but of "up" room as I don't use the bar, just the heel of my hand, easy adjustment. only a couple of small nicks on the top , easily filled.

#15 in the PRS family is a welcome addition

I threw on a Black Crows hits CD and This NAILS the Rich Robinson tone in SPADES

Set up and dial in day

There was a bit of noise when not touching the instrument , so I popped her open , and while the cavity was shielded , as with the Hamer ( and likely others) I notice there was no ground tie ins to the covers, I lined the rim with copper foil , so it connected with the shielding paint, ran a couple of slices over the briaded ground wires to connect and a triangle along the cover perimeter to all connect. Just for grins as I was setting the trem to the parallel wit the body top , I did the same thing to the trem claw top and cover plate top . ... No more ugly noise .. oh happy day.

Dabbed a little Nitro in the biggest ding and buffed it so now it's just a small one ..didn't want to steal it's cred , just make it a bit nicer .

Dialed in my pedal board and amp and she's a real keeper now . Got the warm creamy working just fine, and the tap allows for near tele tones when clean.

Is it a nitro finish? I added a tiny ding on my 380 (opened little case over it, and dropped my Gibson multi-tool on it, Doh!), and I’d like to reseal the finish. Same for an older blemish that has clouded a bit on the neck, though the neck one is old, so maybe I’ll do what was recommended there, and leave it alone. This can go to PM’s if you prefer to keep this thread KL 33 and you related for sure!

The nitro works fine , I have LOTS of it. Some Luthiers use superglue which Stew Mac sells is various thicknesses. I just dab it in with a q tip after taping off the ding it takes several coats and nitro is slow drying .
Cloudiness really requires taking it down below the clouds so to speak then re-spray
