My 10 year old talked me into taking her to guitar center today without the wife or her sister so we had time to really look... First thing she spots walking in the door is a used sc245 in a sweet looking green finish on the used rack, we had to pry each other away from that... Then she played a se custom 24 for a while and really liked it but wasn't crazy about the super thin neck. Then it was an s2 custom 24... I got the gosh darn puppy dog eyes and the bottom lip treatment... I told her as soon as she figured out how to pay for it I would buy it for her... On the way home she decided I should sell the strat and an import g&l asat to help pay for it since they see almost no play time. This kid and her creativity never ceases to amaze me.

I refuse to take a shellacking by trading them in. Would I be better off with ebay, craigslist, or reverb if I agree to her terms? I am not fond of the open house method that craigslist invites but this will likely be an experience I would prefer to be over before it starts too...

Ebay or Reverb. A few months ago, GC offered me $1200 for a PRS. I sold it about a week later on Reverb for $4000. If you sell it on Craigslist, don't meet at your house. Meet them at a local music store. GLWS!

I hope my boys grow into a love for a musical instrument(s). You're a lucky man to experience that. Craigslist is hit and miss-- lots of buyers are serious until it comes time to show up. Not to mention the potential for weirdos. Definitely don't set up a meeting at home if you go that route. Ebay is pretty good, but, I generally don't like the hassle of a million questions and packing/shipping.

Your post made me smile, that was pretty good. As for selling off a few fiddles, yea, ebay or reverb definitely. craigslist...is a flea market. Post that you want 1k for something and you'll get a flood of e-mails offering 20.00 :p

That's kinda what I figured on cl. I think I'll try reverb. Prs is taking over the house and I'm perfectly ok with that.

I'm really tempted to get her one of those special build s2's with the 57/08s. Her guitar teacher cherry picks through the students at the music school he runs and puts together rock bands. He wants her for the new one starting this fall. The oldest group he has going is getting paying gigs and some of those kids are really on their way to a pro career. It's cool that they can get together almost garage band style and have pro sound equipment and a professional musician with a master's degree guiding them. She really wants something that looks and sounds top notch but different than the les Paul's and strats all the other kids have. She's awesome like that.

My daughter wants a private stock so don't feel bad. She has already taken over my Prs se Clint lowrey and a core McCarty...

See kids already have you on the hook, you're thinking about selling guitars to help fund her addiction. Hehe
