Keep the fingerboard inlay as standard?

I've been looking for so long at this 30th anniversary model I've come to the conclusion that PRS should stick with the fingerboard and headstock inlay as standard for their core line, even after the 30th period.

Every other PRS I see that doesn't have it looks like a lesser guitar.
It's unique and gorgeous.

Keep it!
What do you guys think?

Certainly don't mind the 30th inlay at all but I like the variety of different birds on the usual one. Especially the elusive owl... that's the one thing I'm a bit unhappy about with my 30th CU24. No owl. :D

They're pretty nice but the 30th anni models would stand out less. Sure you've got the TRC and other changes but those birds are one of the main things that visually separate the 30ths from the rest.

Disagree. old school birds are where it's at. The birds on any anniversary guitar make it stand out as other have said.

I'm not actually talking about the birds. I'm talking about the surrounding outline of the entire neck and headstock.
I like it on the CU24, but I wouldn't like it on every model though. Would be cool to have as an option though.

I like things the way they are, which in this case means special features on special models or runs. I like the unbound boards & headstocks, and the regular single birds as standard issue. (Which style of birds and which combination of materials is another set of subjects.) As far as inlays are concerned, I always want birds if I can get them, but I'd take the moons rather than plain dots any day. To me, the moons have always made a statement about PRS as a company, which is: 'even with our plain inlays, we still give you something different and better, an improvement over run of the mill dots'. I may be completely off target with that, but that's how I look at it.

I think it loos great on the special edition guitars and would keep the the original headstocks on the traditional production guitars. I do like the maple flamed cap on some of the guitars as well.

I like the double birds on the 30th's, even the SE 30th's.

BUT.

Why was the list of birds changed on the 30th's?

According to the PRS FAQ page, it's supposed to be:

Peregrine falcon
Marsh hawk
Ruby throated hummingbird
Common tern
Coopers hawk
Kite
Sparrow landing
Storm petrel
Hawk landing
Screech owl on a branch (24-fret models only)

Well, not only do I not have the Screech owl on a branch, but I am also missing the Ruby throated hummingbird (except on the 22 fret models)!

I didn't investigate further, but I feel just a little short changed.

But, hey. I do like the birds!

Regardless.

Damn.

If you look at the PRS Book, there is an employee section in the back where they create their own custom shop guitar. I thought the flock of birds on the back of the body was really cool!

It's good when PRS changes it up from time to time. I love my 30th in every way!

Been a PRS customer since 1991. Some of us appreciate the creativity shown in the trim changes.

Don't like the decor on some model? Easy fix: buy a different one.
