Ex-Ibanez, ex-ESP, current Suhr player here.

I'm developing an obsession with PRS's as I'd love a guitar for drop-D/C#/C stuff and PRS's seem perfect. My Suhr Standard Legacy does all the standard tuning stuff amazingly - all your 80's bridge humbucker and split tones with the 85 in the bridge and SA's in the middle and neck. Amazing guitar, but I need to CHUG.

Currently eyeing up PRS Custom 24's and there's a black one from 2020 that I'm terrified of missing out on. I'm finding random things in my house to sell just so I can justify it lol 🤣

Guitars:
ESP Horizon FR (Snow White) - on the chopping block
Caparison Dellinger Pro (Midnight Blue) - also on the chopping block
Suhr Standard Legacy (Suhr Burst)

Rig:
Fractal Audio Systems Axe-Fx III Mk. II
Fryette 2/90/2 stereo power amp
MESA / Boogie Engineering Rectifier Oversized 4x12 cab
Korg PitchBlack Pro Rack

Stuff I like to play:
Journey
Toto
John Mayer
Steely Dan
Chicago / Peter Cetera
Michael Jackson
Limp Bizkit (yes I'm deadly serious!)
Killswitch Engage
Bullet For My Valentine
Rammstein
Chimaira

Yup, interesting tastes.

Hey PeteRS. Welcome. I like a lot of that music. I like most music, depending on my listening or playing mood.

I think you'll like PRS.

Thanks for your welcome, Abe. Very true. I also listen to a lot of non-Western, non-guitar music like chants, hymns, etc so it's strange going from Catholic mode to musician mode...makes me feel almost bipolar in a way.

I'm planning to play a bunch of American-made PRS's before I really pull the trigger.

Welcome PeteRS! Great username as well, really flows off the tongue for the namesake here!! Great gear collection as well and now that you are itching the PRS itch, that family will surely grow ;~)) Looking forward to some pix and music from you down the road ;~))

It was a brief moment of genius and inspiration, I'll admit. I guess now I'll have to take the plunge on that Custom 24 just so I can post here more and make use of a good username.

Currently having some trouble embedding these images :(

Edit: here's some raw links

The future looks bright! Be sure to wear some shades!! With Imgur, there is an option to "Use BBCode" or "Forum Code", something like that. With that copied, you can then paste it into a post and it will display the picture here rather than a link. You can also use the URL of the pic, but you need to ensure that your URL ends in a picture extension (like jpg, gif, png, etc.). Here is an example that I did this with using one of your pix (the future pic of course as it has a PRS in it - I right mouse clicked on the picture and chose "Copy Image Link" and then pasted that into the picture dialogue box in the post composition window). I dig the gear, I am an Axe FXIII user as well! Best piece of electronic equipment I have ever purchased! And yes, stick around, that name needs to live here ;~)) Also, not sure why, but I had wrote this response yesterday and when I tried to post it, this thread had disappeared! Not sure what was going on there, but glad it is back ;~))

Welcome! Can't go wrong with the custom 24, but you might also want to check out the SE Holcomb. Spec'd to be down tuned, slightly longer scale (25.5), thicker strings (10-52) and the only PRS that has the Seymour Duncan Scourge/Scarlet pickups. I keep mine tuned down a whole step, and it's no problem dropping the 6th string to C, stays playable not "floppy" feeling

I went from playing tube amps for 10 years to plugins (Neural DSP) to modelers (Fractal) and I'm still dubious about modelers. I think as effects processors they are awesome but you still can't replicate the feel of a real amp, otherwise you wouldn't see tube preamps and power amps in people like Steve Vai's rigs!
