I've been playing guitar for about 4 years now and had been playing mostly low end guitars during that time. I've always made an effort to play at least one Paul Reed Smith guitar whenever I set foot in a store that carried them, and they quickly became my favorite brand. Just recently (Month ago) I acquired a PRS McCarty with the soap bars for $1100. Boy does that thing SCREAM. It's quite the versatile instrument and is setup perfectly. I've done some research and come to the conclusion that the guitar is a 2000 model but wanted to check with you guys here just to be sure.

The serial number is 4 91874.

Beautiful guitar man!
Yeah based on that serial number it's most likely a 2004 model.
Welcome to the fold...

Love it..congrats. McSoapy is definitely on my short list for 2014 or 2015, yours is most excellent.

Beautiful guitar and welcome to the forum!!!! I believe, going by the serial number, that would be a 2004 model, since the McCarty Soapbar was not introduced until 1997.

Definitely a 2004. They were closing in on 100,000 set neck guitars at that time.

McCarty sopabars are rock machines. What are you playing it thru? My kills thru my Fender '65 DRRI. Nails the Leslie West "Mississippi Queen" tone…

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I wasn't sure on the date because my research was limited and the resources weren't that great. :flute:

I'm currently playing it through a Marshall MG250DFX and it sounds amazing on anything with loud guitars!

Love it. P90s in McCarty's are the best tone ever...have 3 McCartys - 2 Teds and one 20th Anniversary McCarty with 57/08 from PTC... The McSoapy Ted smokes them both...
