I didn't necessarily hate the 85/15 HB's that came on my CE24, but they just seemed more geared for a mid-range sneer. Really wanted a set of passives that could hang with the drop-B tuning and .12 - .60 strings a bit more in stride.

Just picked Wyatt up from my tech and even before plugging in, I'm really stoked with the way the classic LP-style pup covers look. But plugging in and letting 'er rip, just wow. I had to back off the channel gain by about 20% and drop them about 2mm (I normally have the bridge pickup practically sucking the strings onto it). Once I got everything dialed in... just WOW.

This is my first PRS and I told my wife "I feel like I've been playing wearing oven mitts for my whole life... and I just took 'em off for the first time." I can't believe how intuitive this instrument feels in my hands.

I cannot connect with the love for 85/15s either. They are some of the most pedestrian sounding pickups PRS has ever made. They trade trying to be a jack of all trades pickup set for being being a master at none pickup set, but, in my humble opion, they do not belong in a PRS guitar (there, I said it). At least the old HFS/VB sets that PRS installed in CEs for a long time had much more character. John Ingram told that me that the inside name for the HFS was Hot, Fat, and Sweats (there is a back story). I personally think that the acronym was lifted from the old Annapolis-based alternative/progressive radio station WHFS 99.1, which was referred to by locals as 'HFS.

Yeah, drop B so I really need that telephone pole cable for the low B string, especially with the 25" scale. Unfortunately I've gotta send it back to my tech, he did a full set up to intonate for the lower tuning and now I'm getting some fugly buzz as the strings stretch out. Ugh. Takes a while to get a fiddle totally dialed in for the way you play, I guess.

Yeah I’m certain!
I’ve read elsewhere here that some buzz may occur if the slot for that string isn’t cut quite right in the nut. Slightly more to the back of the nut? I’m sure your tech had to recut them for that gauge string anyway…?

I wish I knew that world better, but every time I've tried to setup my own instruments, I only manage to make them worse. Happy to support a local business and stick to playing and recording.

I’m in the same boat. I won’t touch my gear either.
