I just got my sticky fingers on this 2001 SC245 Dark Cherry Sunburst Quilt #7 pick ups and with a wide fat 24.5" scale neck. It's immaculate and, of course, sounds wonderful.

The price was good too:proud:

Edit: This guitar is a singlecut (not an SC245/250) with a 25" scale - I've got the nomenclature correct now, I think, thanks to PRS BB members.

Aha! Congrats. That used to be my guitar. I bought it in 2001 on my trip to the Birds & Moons members meeting. The excellent Brian Meader (then of Chuck Levins) pulled some strings for me to get it before I returned to the UK.

Here is a photo from my trip to the factory

Its the guitar at the end of the rack just on its way to the buffing room.

I've got it's history as well now, thanks.

Was there a 245 in 2001??
I'm being told it's a 245 and there seem to be 245's from 2001 on the interweb.

Edit: Looking at the ad again it does say 25" scale so . . .

Edit again: Link removed

Wow nice axe, so cool you've got a factory pic now of it!

It would just be a "Singlecut" by the way, the SC245/250 naming didn't come until later on I'm pretty sure. If you want to confirm the scale length, just measure it :)

That's the coolest part!

Ok, that's something new for me, just an SC it is, I'm happy either way. Thanks for all the input folks.

Nice early Singlecut.

I'll confirm the 25" scale. The 24.5" versions didn't come until after the Gibson lawsuit was settled ('07-ish?). That's when the SC245 and SC250 names started.

Thanks:top:

It's presently sat in it's hard case in the room next door to my office and I have to keep going in to look at it. It's truly immaculate and looks like it came out of PRS yesterday.

Hmm, how coincidental is this? The guitar I just bought, as above, is serial #1 54655 the one in the ad is serial #1 54656! I find that spooky especially as that's a 10 top and mine isn't:(

The factory pic is super cool!
It's brilliant, I was well pleased.
