[PARODY]

My latest PRS (a DGT from a year ago last October) is wonderful except go a few small issues.

What the hell is up withe nut?? The string slots are so deep, no matter how hard I whammy or bend or troglodyte-sheep strum, I just can't get the strings to pop out of the nut. What's up with that? Aren't they supposed to jump and thereby limit my expressiveness?

And those strap buttons. I can't get my straps off even when I swing my guitar around like a larriot during the country set, or get it off quickly for a Who inspired post show smash.

And don't even get me started on not having Paul"s real signature on my headstock instead of that decal...

It's a band I formed with Les. Our originals are either historic or derivative and our covers go on for too long.

I'm with Todd on this one. The dude originally started a thread saying he was interested in a Custom 24 but that the local GC's didn't have any. Asked some questions and decided to buy over the internet and return it if he didn't like it. Then he starts a new thread when he gets the guitar with some concerns..... and yeah.. they may have been silly.... but still, he said he liked the guitar. I for one didn't know about nuts being cut deeper on PRS in comparison to other guitars when I got my first, and for that matter...I still don't know why that is the case. It's not a surprise when he acts defensive given that some of the responses imply that he's either not very bright or he's a troll. My vote, for what it's worth.... is that we don't automatically make fun of people and assume that they are either trolls or dummies if they have something negative to say. At least not before their second post.

The gentleman asked questions. I even agree that they were valid questions. What didn't sit with me and never will is the tone of his OP in asking the questions. I didn't even reply until after he posted his pics and by the time I was going to tell him what every one else had, he was into name calling and generalizations about the relative knowledge base of Forum members in general.

All managed by his 4th post ever in this forum. So, yeah I take exception.

That aside, my post here was an attempt at humor. My apologies to anyone who thinks it goes too far.

I agree.... maybe his expectations were not met and he was disappointed ... but the tone of his post was just rude

So do I play guitar or keyboards in our band? I can never figure this stuff out.

Whatever you do, do not let me play drums. Repeat, no drums. ;)

You may be right, perhaps he just had concerns. But here's how he chose - yes, that's a choice - to present them:

"It looked like some jamoke from Taiwan did the nut and just left it that way and glued it in. Shameful."

"
just really surprised to see that the little cheesy strap buttons..."

"
Mine only has a little, sloppy hand-executed signature done with what looks like a gold metallic paint pen. It looks like hell, Paul. What were you thinking? Was it like the last of 900 you signed that day? This guitar possesses all the qualities that your guitars are famous for. It's really nice. But it has a half-assed hand-scribbled signature indelibly encapsulated under the finish to irk me for the rest of my life. Really shameful."

So this wasn't some guy just coming here and asking questions, or even expressing concerns. This is a pissed-off guy telling PRS off in his own way. Now that's fine, he can do that.

But by his tone he certainly wasn't being nice and friendly, and being told the facts and that he should have done his homework on the guitars first was not out of order.

And his response was more than defensive, it was over the top with the whole sheep/troglodyte remarks.

This guy truly earned the response he got, as far as I'm concerned.

PS, Aristotle, you're a lot nicer person than I am. ;)

You play both guitar and keyboards. I'll handle the drums since I'm nowhere near you on the other instruments. We still need a bass and a vocalist. And maybe another guitar. They may be hard to find because I'm afraid at this point I may have offended most of our prospects.

Sir, you are a guitar player, and you must play guitar.

I have a great drummer I can call. I can play bass and we can skip keys, and be The Who. We just need a singer. And I know just the young man to do it! ;)

Then I must drag the band down to my level. I just hope we can accurately reproduce the look of fear and trepidation on my face when you ask me to play for reproduction on the album cover.

As long as you pose in the snow in a bathing suit, we're in business.

We can play that way too. A little electroshock therapy never hurt anyone.... ;)

Naw...no reason to apologize on my account. Just seems to me though that this was a guy who was initially enthusiastic about PRS and then had some issues (his first thread was enthusiastic about PRS I think....) Over the top or not with regards to his NGD post, I figure that we'd leave a better impression on people new to PRS if we just assume (right or wrong) that they really are looking for an honest exchange of information. Let's face it...if he was actually on the fence, he probably was pushed off the other (not PRS) side. Sort of reminds me of that guy recently who was complaining about not getting a hard shell case with his guitar from GC. Sure...there was a good explanation for it, but I was left feeling that the guy could have been brought around but the tone of the response kind of made that impossible. Hey...I'm not an internet cop, and giggled at your post. Everybody here has been very welcoming to me (on the forum and in person!) I really didn't mean to criticize you Ruger, or anybody else. Just thinking out loud...

I read his original thread too. Maybe that is why his rudeness in his current thread really twisted my nickers, it was so in expected besides being so uncalled for.

But it is done. I've ranted my rant against name calling. I hope it is for the last time on this forum, but sadly, I suspect that may not be the case.
