Hello,

I recently purchased my first PRS guitar, a 2010 custom 22 with 10-top and Starla pickups. It was apparently a guitar that had been bouncing around GC for a while and I was very lucky to come upon it when the price was marked way down. When I brought it home, I found a letter with the documentation, describing my guitar as part of the "July 300." Can anyone tell me any more about what that means -- is it a true distinction, what kinds of guitars were in that group, etc.? I love the guitar regardless; just curious about its "pedigree."

thanks,

Gordon

That top is WOW! Really like the color and the birds. Don't see those pups too often.

Your guitar should have a matching maple headstock veneer. I have the same model, but I ended up putting a set of 59/09's in it. The Starlas are too bright for my ham-fisted playing style, but in the right hands, they are amazing.

The July 300 was a package deal of various guitars and models. As part of the package, each guitar received a letter as an extra COA.

Sorry, I don't have anything on the July 300 deal, but that is a beautiful top! Can you post the July 300 documentation?

EDIT: Never mind. Shawn in da HOUSE!

Thanks for the replies!

Yes, Shawn, it does have the matching maple headstock veneer. I guess my eyes spend too much time admiring her body to get up that high. Now I'm imagining the guitar saying to me, "Hey, I'm up here."

I don't yet know a lot about different pick-ups, as this is my first "big boy" electric guitar. It is just in such a completely different universe from the $140 no-name axe I bought to learn on that I'm in heaven right now. Maybe some day, my ear will become educated enough to know what a different set of pick ups will do, but for now it's all good!

THe "July 300" was a group of 300 guitars that GC received that were hand picked by PRSH and GC. They should all be absolutely outstanding....I know mine was!!! I still kick myself that I let it go in a trade deal. Here is a copy of the letter explaining it....
