Anybody else catch Johnny Marr on his current tour? I saw him last night in Chicago... a really great show and a nice tight band. The set list was mostly stuff off his new album, but also included a handful of Smiths songs and a couple of songs by Electronic. Final song of the night was "How Soon is Now" which just killed. For all you Maryland residents, I believe he is appearing in DC later this month. Check him out if you can. Extremely highly recommended. The humble Fender Jaguar hasn't sounded this good since the 1960's.

I love Johnny Marr! I'm shocked he played "How soon", it has always been reported that he wasn't that into that tune.

I've been a fan of the Smiths since the '80's. While Morrissey does have a tendency to be a bit winy and pompous at times, he and Johnny Marr wrote some killer tunes. I'm really enjoying Johnny Marr's solo release as well. If you haven't heard it, I recommend checking it out.

Calling Morrissey pompous may be a bit of an understatement. ;)

That why it was so good hearing Johnny Marr perform the Smiths' tunes. I actually liked his vocals better. And yes, his new album is very good.

It took me some time to understand why Johnny Marr is cool. Better late then never

That is because the weather is too nice where you are at! You gotta listen to The Smiths when it's autumn and rainy and depressing to get the full effect.

Lol, they're from Manchester... Rainy and depressing it can certainly be at times! I jest... It's a great city, but very different to how it was back in the Smiths heyday.

Love Johnny. Very creative guitarist and proves you don't need to be a hotshot lead player to play interesting guitar parts.

Do you think Morrissey is a Man City or Man U supporter? :)

You know, I could see Johnny playing a Starla. Maybe you PRS guys should drop one off with him in advance of tomorrow night's show in DC...
