Just curious how many of you are checking-in constantly; waiting for news of the John Mayer amp? If he holds true to the tonal pallet he was using during Continuum and the Trio project, I really want one.

I don't check in a lot to see when/if, but I'm interested, too.

Mayer was a Two-Rock player when I was playing TR, and I thought he got gorgeous tone out of his amps. So I think his PRS amp, when it comes, will be a "must have."

"Of course, you think that, Les, you're a fanboy and you think you must have all PRS amps."

"That's very true..." ;)

Have you seen the going rate for one of the 25 Mayer Two Rock amps? Pretty sure the last one sold for a hair over $16K.

I'm not surprised, though as you know I don't follow the prices collectors pay for gear.

The amps were in the $6K range when they were new, and of course at that time Joe Mloganoski and Bill Krenard were running the company and still building the amps. Bill is an absolute genius at amp design.

So there's a lot of cachet to the original TR Mayer model. If memory serves, it's kind of a cross between a TR Custom Reverb Signature, and a Steel String Singer, a la the Dumble amp SRV used to play.

I almost bought one when they came out, but of course within a year or two I'd have sold it at my usual 40% loss and I'd be kicking myself today. So I'm glad I never bought one! ;)
