I watch a lot of maker videos on YouTube during my lunch breaks and have seen several about ancient Japanese wood joinery techniques. They used to put up buildings without nails or glue using these techniques.

Of course my mind automatically goes to headstock scarf joints and neck to body joints and wondering if anything like this has ever been done with guitar building, and perhaps this would be a better, more toneful way to skin the cat so to speak.

When I saw PRSh speak in Chicago, I recall he made a remark to the effect that putting glue in a bolt-on joint doesn't really affect tone that much. I think snug is snug and that = sustain no matter how you make the joint...?

Look up the Scott Walker Katana guitar.
