It turns out, you go over to the Dark Side sloooowly…

And yes, you could side chain a gate, but that’s much more common in a recording setup when adding effects at the board than on an analog pedal board. Interesting, but I don’t recall seeing a pedal board set up that way before. Have you seen it in use that way?
I did it in the studio back in my analog console/tape machine days, but didn't with my pedalboard. At one point I had a gate on a pedalboard, so I could have patched it that way, but never did.

I hated the way pedal gates sounded, and finally learned how to eliminate guitar rig noise at the source, so I gave the gate away.

In my '90s rack days, I had a Drawmer compressor with a gate that sounded quite good, but never used it to do the side chain thing then, either! I had an Eventide H3000 d/se that had a ducked delay in that rack. so I didn't need to side chain anything.

That was a great sounding rig, come to think of it!

And I had one of those in the rack of the analog system in the previous building at church. It was a nice unit! Allen&Heath GL 3300 board that sounds better than the Yamaha M7CL digital mixer I run now

It started slowly...all because now I play mainly in the computer, so using VST instruments was kind of a no brainer: I entered the emulation Neural DSP world. And when the time came to play with some other guys live I found I missed the convenience of the digital stuff, even if I strongly agree that there is always something missing in the sounds produced.

So i bought a Quad Cortex. And a Katana for home playing. Sometimes I feel bad.

But I keep all my analog stuff which I think I would use if I go back to recording stuff.

Hi Bogner, can I just ask, why do you capitalise every word - is it a setting on your computer or is it deliberate - not being funny, just wondered as I find it really hard to read - maybe just be something to do with my OCD though?
I Prefer Amps But I Can't Hate On The Digital Stuff As It Is Really Good. I Do Love My Kemper Stuff And If I Had To Survive On That Alone I Could But Let Me Be Very Clear Here...I Am Really Glad I Don't Have To. ;)

Speaking for myself, the reason I believe it can be difficult to read is, we assume the capital letter is the beginning of a sentence when we are reading. So our brain is looking at each word as a new sentence and we are continually having to reset that tendency as we read that material. Just my theory ;~)) As for why, Mr. Bogner has given responses elsewhere (which I will neither search for nor reiterate as that is not my place), but hopefully he will chime in here with a response ;~))
