It’s My Birthday and we’re having a party. Please bring two expensive presents! Ok, no presents, that’s just a favorite line stolen from an old friend.

It is my birthday, and I do like birthdays. Especially mine! Feel free to wish me a happy one. 66, one year retired on April 1, though I burned a month + of leave before then.

Big plans for the day? Brunch at the cool farm to fork place downtown, and dragging my daughter through the process of writing her term paper in early childhood education. Some of you might remember she has Down Syndrome. It’s amazing she’s in college, amazing she’s successful in this class (with some support). She loves it, but dear Lord getting her to do the work is like pushing a hot, wet rope!

Anyway, all good, and happy birthday to me…!

What? No new birthday guitar?
Nah, I’m currently rich beyond my needs with guitars (three PRS electrics and one each steel and nylon string acoustics). A cool little story though - I put the tiniest little dink in my KL 380. Dropped my Gibson guitar tool in it dead center on the bottom, right on edge of the violin carve where it would continue to flake over time. I’m not comfortable attempting the repair on this guitar as a first time. I called up Danville Music to ask if they would fix it or recommend someone. Turns out their guy is about 10 minutes from me. Nicest guy in the world. I hope to have it back in week or three. Just nitro drop fill and careful sanding. He’s gonna do a full cleaning and set up as well. I can mostly do all of that, but I figured a good pro level baseline is a good starting point. He’s also gonna clean and set up a Kamen classical that my father in law handed me. So, kinda, sorta new guitars! I’ll report back on the local luthier once I get the guitars back. If Danville Music recommends him, I have full confidence. They are probably the top PRS dealer In the San Francisco Bay Area.

Your KL380 is one of the few PRS that piques my curiosity, along with the black limba CE24. Just finished paying a hospital bill, so neither is in the cards right now.
I think in the big picture, it’s just a PRS triple soapie. In the little picture, its natural finish Korina, which is either completely enchanting, or does nothing for you. It’s the former to me. It’s also cool ‘cause they didn’t make that many. I wasn’t looking for one, I just stumbled on it on CL. I love the look, it plays well, and it’s my first with P90’s. I’m finding I really like P90’s. They are noisy AF though. I guess that’s part of the charm?

My best friend died one year ago on this date.
I will raise a toast in the evening (CET) with his prefered whisky Tomatin Cù Bòcan incl. angel share to remember the dead and celebrate the living.
@aamefford, have a good one and enjoy your day with all your beloved ones.
I will raise a toast to my birthday, and to the passing of your friend with a dram of Angel’s Envy bourbon tonight.

Happy BDay ! hope it is a great one!

I remember when I used to celebrate my birthdays ...
Good times ;-)

On another note I just found out my neighbor who had been ill passed a week ago :(
Formula 1 legendary character and the last independant Team owner Eddie Jordan passed this week as well.

In Tribute, I will raise a shot glass (or three) of premium Anejo to all our lost souls this evening as well.

Godspeed..!
