Back in the late 70's early 80's there were so many bands you liked that you didn't have enough money to buy all the records you wanted. That faded out then in the early 90's grunge and alternative rock became popular. They blew the hair metal bands out of the water. Bands like Soundgarden, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Oasis and others had their own sound and could write songs that moved you. Rock bands today just check all the boxes and have no substance.
