Is my switch broken? Also, is this wiring possible?

This is kind of a two parter here. I'll start with the wiring question.

Part 1
With this switch (2010 5 way), are these switching positions possible?

  • Position 1: (down) Bridge Humbucker
  • Position 2: Bridge Humbucker with Neck Singlecoil
  • Position 3: Bridge and Neck Humbuckers
  • Position 4: Neck Singlecoil with Bridge Singlecoil
  • Position 5: (up) Neck Humbucker

I'm specifically interested in Position 3 with both humbuckers active. I seem to recall that the 2010 switch, at least stock, doesn't allow for this. Am I wrong?

Part 2
When I got my 2010 Custom 24 used from Guitar Center (I ordered it online), I IMMEDIATELY pulled the pickups and put in a Duncan Jazz/JB set. I flipped the magnet on the JB as well. At this point, the original pickups were gone...sold. When I got the Duncans wired up (after several re-works to get it right), something just didn't sound right. The cleans were great. When going to dirty, the sound was hollow and lacked gain and punch. It almost seemed like they were out of phase. So I took the guitar to a tech...he had it for a few weeks or more and even he couldn't fix it. The pickups tested fine according to him.

So, I ended up buying a VB/HFS off of eBay. I was tired of dealing with the Duncans. I installed that set and everything seemed okay. However, SOMETHING was still amiss when on the bridge pickup. I couldn't quite put my finger on it. There was this kind of shrill top end and it seemed like the pickup lacked the oommpff of the HFS pickups I've had experience with in the past.

So, here I am now. I bought a Tremonti treble pup the other day and it should be there tonight. I'm going to install that and see if I can get anywhere else. But is it possible that the switch is bad somehow?

I know that this post isn't far enough down for a bump, but does anyone know the answers here?

I'm usually one to jump on wiring questions. However, I am just not familiar with the PRS 5 way blade at all. Never seen one much less worked on one.

You will definitely be able to achieve your goals with a replacement 5 way superswitch like this one:

I am fairly certain it will fit. PRS wouldn't use some funky size for a blade switch just for their USA guitars, would they? I've got one of these in my SE Baritone and it fit perfectly.
