Hi,
I am not a PRS expert and this one reason among others for which I joined this forum, hopping someone can answer my stupid questions like tell if my PRS is a standard or custom. I am trying to post a photo here below. It is US made guitar, the serial is 050905 which I believe tells the guitar was build in 2000, is this correct? And can it be a custom 24 with this sparkling silver finish ?

The difference between a standard and a custom is the top wood.
Standard is solid mahogany
Custom is a maple top.

From your picture it's definitely a USA made Prs.
However it looks like a CE

I can only see the photo from the link, and it doesn't have a shot of the back of the neck, so lacking the look you may have, I'm going by the solid paint and the birds, my guess is it is a Standard. Birds on a CE would be rare and solid silver, it just feels like a Standard to me. You can verify with the MODCAT (under the bridge pup).

You're right, forgot about the birds correlation. The headstock looked natural to me in the pic.

Welcome.

If it has exposed maple faux binding around the top, it is a 2000 Custom 24. If it is solid silver all over, it is a Standard 24.

I have viewed the new photographs. Strange how there is no serial number and other identifying markings on the rear of the headstock and the tuners appear to be unbranded. Maybe it has been refinished/resprayed, or worse, was not made by PRS. If you loosen the strings, slide out the pickups and get the camera in there we may be able to learn more. A look inside the rear cavities could be useful too.

It's a legit 2000 Standard 24. All the details match up. Strap buttons and switch tip have been replaced.

I could see the SN when I zoomed in.

Hi , Charlie. Actually, there is a serial number. It is hand written in gold which does not contrast well on color on silver, if you zoom in the pic you will see it. About the tuners , it does not show on the pic but there is PRS engraved on them. I looked into the neck pickup cavity it is painted, nothing to read there except a round paper sticker with the character B handwritten on it, and the pickup is a PRS vintage bass.

Oli D, Just looked again and I can see nothing at all. Maybe my zoom function is lacking. Pleased to see there is no fakery happening anyway. And further pleased to see you finally have a positive ID from garrett. The bridge pickup might prove to be a HFS. I have one in my recent SE Standard 24.

Glad to know you have a standard there. The MODCAT is in the bridge cavity.

That's a sweet guitar! I always loved the platinum finish. I agree that it's most likely a standard.
