Hey guys! Recently got a PRS SE CE 24 Standard Satin and I am absolutely loving it. One thing I've noticed is that the body is supposed to be constructed from mahogany, however on my guitar it seems that one of the 3 pieces is flamed maple. I could be wrong in identifying the wood as im pretty new to guitar and don't have anything to compare it to but judging from pics it really seems to some flaming and the colour of it seems to be lighter. of the it seems to be slightly off. Not complaining it looks great, just curious what you guys think if its possible.
Is it possible Cor-TEK used the wrong wood in the construction of my guitar?

I think you are right abt it just being flamed mahogany. Didn't know that was a thing, tried looking it up but google didn't help me lol.

Actually my first time seeing flamed wood on a guitar unclose, the way it reflects off the light is super sick and I now want a guitar with a flamed top lmao. Probably a bad thought for my wallet.

You got lucky with the chunk they selected for your body - that's Private Stock mahogany !
Photo's never really do show how flame changes and ripples in the light as it moves. The depth they have seems 3-dimensional so I can understand why you perhaps never saw the attraction. 1 guitar is never enough and when the time is right, your experience will help you decide what guitar would compliment or expand my options....
SE's with flame maple veneers can often be on sale and you may get lucy with mahogany again too... That guitar is an absolute cracker of a guitar for its price and rest of the SE range are too so you can't go wrong. You'll know when the time is right. if you keep playing....

Towards the end of WMI’s production, they had some absolutely wicked SE Standards with figured mahogany.
