After trying one in the store and being rather impressed, I was researching the newer SE CU24 quilt-top models in the unique "violet" finish and I noticed a bunch of examples online look incredibly pink, while some others look more purple in color and still others look a tad gray-ish and dull.
Some members here have suggested that perhaps the SE factory forgot to apply the "blue" stain over the red dye on certain batches of this model and that is why there are so many that look distinctively "pink" rather than the violet/purple color that PRS advertised. However, I've also seen how drastically some of the USA Core models in lighter purple and blue tones tend to fade out, sometimes in as little as a year, even in artificial lighting.
There's also a video straight from PRS (LINK) showing the "violet" stain being applied in the SE factory, but I haven't seen a single real-life example that is nearly as rich and vibrant as the color shown in that video, which makes me wonder why the color discrepancy for this particular model is so large?
Is the SE "violet" color prone to short-term fading, perhaps more so than the USA models?
Can anyone who purchased one of the recent "violet" SE models confirm if the color of their guitar has faded or mellowed out noticeably since new?
Thanks!
