Hello! My name is Rick E Tee, I just purchased a DGT SE Gold Top and am very excited to receive it, it should land tomorrow! I've recently purchased some inexpensive import guitars by another manufacturer and was very pleased with the quality... I also recently purchased a Custom Shop Black Beauty, to replaced one I had 25 years ago... Thinking about that for the $$ I spent I could've bought a CORE DGT!, but hey, it's still not too late... I've already purchased an upgrade trem by MANNMADE for the SE and am now considering to upgrade the tuners to the "Locking Type". My only real concern right now are the pickups. I'm a fan of vintage output pups, but don't care for ceramic mags, I hoping to get some clarification on the DGT "S" pups, build materials, magnet type etc.. A fan of Alnico V mags, or IIs hoping that's what they used on these pups... If not then it's SDs 59s with the 4 conductor wire to maintain the coil splitting capabilities of the DGT. Anyway, a little long winded, for that I apologize. Thanks for any responses regarding the pups etc.. CIAO!

I do not know much about the guitar you're getting but I hope it's perfect for you. Welcome. I too started with the SE line of PRS guitars. I'm quite happy with it really. I do hope that in the future I can afford a US made core version of the style of PRS guitar I like. :)

Ciao.

Welcome to the Forum rickETee! I hope you find, like many of us do, that those other guitars will become obsolete ;~)) I never played one prior to Jan of '21, and after I got my first, I had 3 within 6 months!!! And don't worry about long winded, several of us here type pages of response for the simplest questions (I am one of them) ;~))

Welcome to the forum, and the PRS experience. I’ve heard nothing but amazement from pro players over how good the SE DGT is, so I expect you’ll be mightily impressed!
Yes, the reviews are great! Can't wait to plug her in!

Thank you! Can't wait to play her...

Welcome! PRS guitars are awesome, I think you'll be plenty happy with yours! However, one thing that's not ideal - PRS does not make a lot of info publicly known, so we can't answer your question as to what type of magnets are used, etc.
Best advice I can give is to not worry about it, and just let your ears decide. Don't be afraid to make some adjustments to height (a small tweak can make a big tone difference) and see what they sound like to you. Don't get hung up on specs, or where they're made to decide if they're any good or not, judge on what you hear
