Introduce yourself!

New user and new owner of two PRS SE guitars I picked up used through Craigslist/FB (a 2014 SE Custom 24 and a fairly new SE Hollowbody II Piezo that just needed a little work). My son’s actually the guitar player (I’m a decades-long sax and winds player, mostly in jazz ensembles and rock cover bands), but now I’m inspired to finally pick up guitar as well. He’s enjoying the Custom 24, I’m liking the Hollowbody, and it’s fun to jam with him even if he’s light years ahead of me.

Glad to be a part of the forum and grateful for all of the great information here.

Thanks—I posted the Hollowbody in another thread; here’s the Custom 24. It was in pretty good shape, just needed pickups adjusted and frets dressed a bit, plus a new trem bar and set screw. Oiled the fretboard, slapped on some new strings, and my son’s loving it!

Good to have you on board.

I recently purchased my first PRS: a 2022 Paul's Guitar:

I absolutely love how it feels, plays, sounds -- fantastic pickups -- and looks. I was a little skeptical about the coil-split, but those modes sound great. In fact, I think all of the 8 pickup combinations have a real application. Versus my 2014 Les Paul where the coil-taps feel like a gimmick -- I have never used them, though granted that is a whole different wiring.

I have been playing guitar for a long time, have never been a performer, and only recently started getting serious about recording music. I released an album last year, available on bandcamp and streaming. Definitely a hobby for me and I have a lot to learn (not just to be a better guitarist!). That record is nearly all with the Les Paul and an acoustic (Gibson EC-1). I have some new songs in the works that feature a 2003 Casino, but hope to be writing some new music with the PRS next.

I am not a collector, although I can see wanting a 24-08 (or at least a 24-fret) at some point. And some of these PRS are so awesome looking (and apparently sounding too) it is hard not to want more!

Welcome Robert! Sweet guitar, but it won't be your last PRS, they are addictive!! I listened to bits of each of the songs on your album though bandcamp, good work, keep it up!!!
