Introduce yourself!

Oh no. You are only just beginning your PRS journey. So many more to buy!

:D

=K
yes when I saw my failed post I said to myself he will think that I call him an con no:eek: !! lol .. I live in Quebec! yes I think I am at the beginning of the PRS adventure!
When we take this path and deeply love it's guitar, we no longer look behind!:D

I’m James, from Scotland and new to PRS and lots of other things too! Primarily a cellist, but have flirted with guitars my whole life without ever doing much about it. I’ve recently decided to try to do something about that, and take guitar a bit more seriously.

I’ve set myself a bit of a personal goal of improving my skills over the next four years and, if I do, rewarding myself with a nice “real” guitar. That’s where PRS enters the picture. I only found out about them recently, but am seriously considering one as my “reward” guitar. The forum will help me do my due diligence, and probably give me way too many options!

Happy to be here, and to learn more.

Hey James! Welcome!! I wanted a PRS for literally 20+ years and did not buy one because I could not justify based on my "seriousness" about guitar and my "suckieness" on guitar. Just received my first one on Feb 10, and have already purchased another. DON'T WAIT!! Your reward is due NOW!!! Most incredible instrument I have ever touched!!!

Thanks, Moondog Wily! I do take onboard what you say, I guess there is part of me that still just worries it would potentially be wasted on me and I don't want that.

Through my wife I fell heir to a mid 90s Epiphone Riviera which is lovely, but which I always viewed as hers, not mine, (despite the fact she doesn't play and gave it to me for precisely that reason). I've since acquired a very nice Squier Affinity Stratocaster that I can't fault. It is more instrument than I am capable of playing, and it is wholly mine.

I'm just eyeing some nicer instruments, and PRS guitars have really caught my attention. The four year thing is a bit of a double target as it will also be a milestone birthday, which makes me feel I can justify getting myself something nice if I feel I have earned it. I just want to feel like I have earned it by that point, and not that I am buying a really nice guitar that is beyond my ability and will just sit and look pretty. Having said that, I also suspect you may be right, and that the time to buy may come a lot sooner! I guess that will come down to me and my own dedication.

Either way I appreciate your comment, and I am glad you have take steps into the world of PRS. Out of interest, what was your first, and what is your second? Was the second prompted by something you found lacking in the first, or just a need to have more, (which I completely understand!).

So I say get it sooner rather than later!!

My first PRS is a Wood Library 10-Top McCarty 594 Hollowbody II and it can be viewed at https://forums.prsguitars.com/threads/the-great-green-guitar-thread.46477/page-4#post-625613 . I just got it Feb 10 of this year!!! It was just completed at PRS on Jan 15, 2021, so brand spankin' new as can be!!! My second one, I just paid for yesterday and will not have it for a week or two. That one is a 2021 Custom 24 10-Top and it is a long story as to why I had to buy a second one so soon, it is related to the milestone you mentioned. I can say in short, it is total decadence, totally unnecessary, but it is what it is. I will not be purchasing another (at least according to my girlfriend) until I can save up enough money for a PRS Private Stock acoustic that I will design (the inlays/finish, etc., not the guitar itself). The first PRS, if anything, made me want another one not because it was lacking, but because it was such an incredible experience. I like to describe it as a "Silk Ferrari"!! It is fast and it is smooth and it is beautiful. Never had a guitar in my hands that felt this good!!! I have already released 3 songs (releasing a song a week this year) which predominantly use the one I got on Feb 10!!! Here is a link to my page where some of my releases go (if you want to check them out) - https://moondogwily.bandcamp.com/ .

Look forward to chatting with you here on the forum and like I said, pull the trigger! You will thank yourself 4 years from now for not having waited!!!

That guitar is absolutely stunning! I can see why you are such a convert. I have looked at the photos so many times. The colour and figuring are just sublime.

I had a quick listen to your Bandcamp too, and will be back for a proper listen later. Very cool stuff. You are definitely way ahead of me, (almost everyone is!). Thanks for sharing that though, always nice to find new, cool music.

You’re not making things easy. I can definitely feel a purchase coming sooner than the 4 year mark, though maybe an SE to dip my toe in the waters.

Thanks for being so friendly to a newcomer, and taking the time to explain your decisions. It really helps. I look forward to chatting with you more.

Right on Lou!!! Great avatar BTW! Thanks for the kind words on my music (that which I shared here). I have other stuff if you are interested, but have not posted some of it here for various reasons. One of my artist names was all done prior to PRS (Funk stuff), so I don't feel this is the right place for that material ;~)) The other artist is exclusively politics oriented music and I will not bring those discussions into this forum ;~)) This is a place for dreams, joy and togetherness!!!

Have a great day!

Hi everyone, I’m Dante, I’ve been playing PRS guitars since 2002, but got hooked back in 1996 when I was 13 and met Paul for the first time at an event. I was around on the old PRS forum, went to the big meetup event in 2006, met a lot of people who I imagine are members here now. Slowly building my collection, currently have an HBII, Santana II, an Archtop I, a Dweezil Zappa PS, a Holcomb SVN SE and a Custom 22 that I bought as a restoration project. I just moved out of LA where I was a film and television re-recording mixer, now in Colorado Sprongs horse country enjoying the fresh air and snow.

Nice collection, Dante.
Welcome.
Don’t forget to make an avatar when you get a chance!

Hey Moondog, feel free to shoot me links to your other stuff, (PM if it's more appropriate). Always happy to take a listen, and what I've heard of your music so far is really cool.

My current lineup, slowly building up the stable since 2002. Would love to place a custom PS order in the future though I have no clue what it would be.

Fantasic collection Dante. What is the model in the top middle? Don't know the line up well enough and I love that cutaway on bottom where neck joins! Thanks for sharing!!!

That’s a Dweezil Zappa Private Stock limited edition model, they made 50 of them I think in 2011. The body was mandolin inspired. Very unique model.

Yo, I’m Matt from Indiana! Got my first PRS back in ‘98, it’s a ‘96 CE24! Just picked up my second one this week, a 2016 Wood Library McCarty Trem in charcoal cherry burst! Tried many guitars in all those years in between and nothing compares! Awesome looking collections on here, love it!!
