Introduce yourself!

My name is Kelly. I live in New York and play in several bands there. I just got my first PRS, an SE Custom 24 Black Gold Quilt Top, and it should arrive in the mail on Tuesday. I grew up playing an Epiphone Les Paul and knew nothing about it. The first guitar I purchased with my own money was a Fender Strat HSS. I knew nothing about it or pickups or anything of that sort until I started to do my homework during COVID and learned that I had a Clapton Boost and TBX-equipped Strat. I spent a lot of money in COVID on pedals and pickups and a few years later, I've learned a I'm a Mesa Boogie guy and that precious first Strat is now an at-home guitar because of its floating after-market Vega Trem and the guitar's sentimental value. I've been playing an Epiphone Les Paul Custom with a Fralin Pure PAF bridge and Noiseless Alnico Rod P90 neck pickup live. I made the PRS plunge because I've heard great things about these guitars and their versatility and trem systems.
Welcome Kelly!
Thanks for having an avatar.;):)

Welcome Kelly. I have a Custom 24 SE myself and I really like it, was also my first PRS 3 years ago.
Echo2112, I think you'll like those LTs, I know I sure do. Significant difference between them and the "s" pups in my Custom 24
I'm looking forward to having one! I've always been interested in having a "shredder" guitar, so to speak. I was looking for a black PRS Dave Navarro SE for a while, but never found one. Growing up on Strats and Les Pauls, I've never really had anything that plays super fast or with a thin neck profile, so this should be fun.

Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum and live in the U.K.
I have just purchased my first PRS which is Silver Sky SE in Stone Blue. I have been a fan or admirer of PRS since they came to the U.K. in the late 1980s or early 1990s. I remember reading about them in Guitarist Magazine when they were launched in the U.K. and interviews with Paul Reed Smith. I remember Gary Moore playing a red and and a blue Custom 24 live at one of his concerts at the Hammersmith Odeon during the Wild Frontier album tour.

I first tried them at Chandler Guitars in Kew but I did not get on with the neck profiles as I was a bit of a shredder and went down the Charvel route. That’s at least 35 years ago and I have decided to revisit them and start with the PRS SE Silver Sky in Stone Blue. I should receive it from GuitarGuitar in the U.K. on the 4th January. I have asked for the guitar to be set up with the Trem floating as I had read it helps with tuning stability.

If this works out I will probably go with a PRS SE SC next.

I am looking forward to spending time on the forum.

Happy Christmas and New Year

Welcome from a fellow British PRS player. Chandler were the very first U.K. PRS dealer and the first place I saw a PRS. I home made a ‘Schecter’ style Strat using Schecter components bought from Chandlers. I think Doug Chandler left to work for PRS, but I maybe wrong on that.

Hi, Doug did go and work for PRS and my understanding is that he played a part in the SE Line.

I used to go into Chandlers regularly as I worked around Kew. I ended up buying a Rivera valve head from them as my guitar teacher, used one. I was never really happy with it as I didn’t like the sound. I eventually ended up with a Mesa Boogie Studio 22+.

My one and only tube amp since 1994.
