Introduce yourself!

Hello PRS Forum! My name is Matthew and I am a new owner of two S2 McCarty 594 guitars. I have been playing for 35 years and about 95% of that time just on acoustic guitars. I have had a couple of teles, and one Les Paul but I never really bonded with them. I have a couple of friends who own nice PRS guitars (S2 and Cores) and that helped lead me to my own. In the last month I picked up a new S2 McCarty 594 10th Anniversary Black Amber and then I picked up a S2 Limited McCarty 594 with an ebony board and wide flame curly maple with Faded Grey Black Cherryburst (Charcoal Cherry Burst).
Absolutely love these two guitars. They came out of the gig bags set up perfect. Looking forward to seeing what PRS has instore for next year and contributing to the forum.
That is a great start Mr. Mathew! Congrats on those two fine choices!! After a few posts, you should share some pix with us if you have not already!!! Cheers and Welcome ;~))

Well Hello there ,one and all. My name is Charlie. Long story short, I’ve been playing bass and guitar in and out of bands for 50 years or so. I was mainly a bass player on stage ,but I always played guitar mainly for me and the family. I’ll skip ahead to last year. I’m retired from work and gigging now. My wife asked me how many instruments I had and didn’t I think it was time, with my health, etc., that I sold off a bunch and bought a few that I loved playing, so I did. I went from 37 guitars and basses down to ,now 20. In the last year I bought 4 PRS’s. My first was a S2 McCarty 594 Thinline in vintage White, an awesome guitar that sparked the need for more. Next was my S2 Standard 24 Satin in Cherry, which is my go to guitar now. Since PRS put the SE line on sale at 20% off, my wife bought me a SE custom 22 Semi hollow in Santana Yellow, then I turned around and bought a SE Swamp Ash Special in Charcoal. So that’s a lot of sonic territory for this old guy. Very happy with them all. Looking forward to being here, and now the PRS Factory tour being opened up again, I’ll be heading there ,soon as possible. Love the discussion so far , I’ll be hanging out. Enjoy.

Welcome Charlie! I must say you have excellent taste, and so does yer missus even though she said you should downsize. We appear to have similar (although mine aren't nearly as numerous as yours) desires in instruments, I only have 9 which includes my lonely very old bass and a uke. I'm not sure what our average age around here is, but I think we're sort of in the "seasoned" age group across the board.

Hi all,

Just joined about two weeks ago to brag about the guitar pictured in my avatar. A bit about me: I played guitar through high school and college but then let it fall by the wayside for about a decade while I focused on academic and then professional pursuits (I have the distinction of being able to call myself a literal blues lawyer). A few years ago, now in my mid 30s, I was randomly perusing Reverb and came across a beautiful Cu24 wood library in faded whale blue. Growing up rocking out to nu metal, PRS had always been the apple of my eye, so I decided to pull the trigger and start up again, but rather than letting my dreams of making it big guide me, to justify the purchase, I made a promise to myself that learning the instrument wouldn't just be a means to an end, but its own end. Well, I'm about 4 years into that journey now. My abilities and knowhow have improved significantly, and so has the guitar collection. The Cu24 didn't last... took a while to realize that it wasn't the right guitar for me. I've purchased a few killer axes since then - a couple Custom Shop Fenders, a holy-sh*t level Good Wood-Era Les Paul flametop, but the PRS itch still needed to be scratched. Enter the guitar in my avatar. She's a Wood Library McCarty 594 in Violet Quilt, bordering on Northern Lights (my favorite PRS finish, despite its propensity to fade). Bought her from Wildcat Guitars in Escondido, CA earlier this month, and my jaw just dropped when I opened the case. I can't believe I'm saying this, but it has really rendered the rest of my collection obsolete. I'm obsessed with everything about her - from the feel of the asymmetrical neck profile to the tone of the 59/09 pickups. She's perfect in every way. I guess I'm just a vintage guy at heart.

Anyway, great to be a part of this community, and can't wait to shred on these forum pages with you all!

And go Niners!

Hello all,

my name is Philipp and I was a passive read on this forum for a couple of months. Mainly because I did some research on an PRS CE 22 from 1998 but later more on that. My PRS journey startet around 2002 when I bought my first "serious" guitar which was the first SE Model by PRS, the Santana SE. I have this guitar to this day and it served me well as my go to work horse for every live gig I did. Since then the idea to posses a "real" USA made PRS haunted me, and after several additions to my collection by other brands import models. I finally got a 2016 PRS CE24. Long story short, after some quiet years G.A.S hit again. This time I stumbeld up on a 1998 CE 22. Over the years I just came to the conclusion that bolt on maple necks just work the best for me, which makes the CE line a perfect match. After a lot of research regarding older what to expect (the guitar shop was just to far away and I wanted to test it with my amps anyway), I ordered the guitar and unboxed it yesterday. I don't now if it's still the honeymoon phase but the second I played that guitar dry and with my amps it completely blew me away. Playability wise and the sonic richness is just next level compared to all of my other guitars. Thats why I ended up here, just to share my enthusiasm.
Best Regards
Philipp

Great to hear you are enjoying these beauties! PRS guitars have literally changed my enthusiasm for playing in such a positive way!! Welcome to the forum, home of the enablers!!! What's next?

NEW GUITAR DAY!!
I ordered an SE Custom 24 Blue Burst two days ago from a reputable online retailer, the box arrived today! Crazy! I'm impatiently waiting for the 24 hour adjustment period (well aware of its importance) while a battle rages between the child and the adult within to open the box... I promise I won't!
I was first introduced to PRS about a year ago when I picked up a used Nick Catanese Signature SE Korean made! I had never heard the artist name before, but that was irrelevant because before that, I had never picked up any PRS guitar. I loved everything about the thing immediately, unti i read n article about the artist tha made me decide that i wanted to work on trading up to the PRS guitar of my choice! I became a fan for life. I quickly took to my inner Guitar-nerd self and hit the internet to see what others guitars the company had out there. A search that would lead me to one of my many dream guitars, the Custom 24-08 in the Faded Blue burst! Well, I'm married with teen children, so the funds for the foreign-made, aren't all there outright, let alone for an American. However, I decided to really expand my technical knowledge of the guitar and began to buy/trade for electric guitars restore and resell/trade them after working on them! I have slowly worked my way from an original investment of 100 into a two-for-one deal on two extremely cheap electrics found at a flea market. Fast forward 2 years and 2 days ago I sold a guitar I purchased for 500, sold 800. Came immediately home and because of Christmas deals, purchased th SE Custom-24 in Faded blue! I'm extremely stoked to tear into this box and due to the adjustment period, needed to release some excitement with like-minded people. Thanks for reading if you made it this far! Happy Holidays!
