Hey Yall,
Texas transplant living in Thailand. Have played guitars (poorly) for over 20 years. I've always LOATHED PRS. Mostly the birds. And the pointy headstock. Just always hated those so never gave the guitars a chance (seriously PRS, just do some non bird models I guarantee you'll pull in more players).

Was shopping for a 40th bday guitar for myself. After what must be my 10th super negative experience with G!%$)N I thought why am I so stuck with vintage brands who are overcharging for pretty broken designs. I mean the nostalgia's there...but when they go out of their way to hurt retailers and musicians...why give them any money?

But I still didn't want to consider PRS. Again, those damn birds LOL. But everyone I've been watching online lately and listening to has been raving about the Silver Sky. A couple weeks ago got caught out in the rain and the mall I had ducked into here had a full range of PRS guitars. I thought, well, lets play them and confirm my hatred so I never have to waste any energy on the things. Big mistake. First was the Hollowbody ii Piezo. Had been trying some new jazz stuff recently and was struggling at home. The licks played themselves on this guitar. But way too blinged out for me with the maple binding and everything so went over to try the Silver Sky's. I've never held a guitar that fit my hands so well (Maple SS). I couldn't stop thinking about it for days after playing. I love my Trouble Maker Tele, but when I went home, that thing felt like hot garbage in my hands compared to the SS. Also, aesthetically I hate maple almost as much as the birds. Always loved the look of Rosewood so assumed would get that again. But played matching sets side by side (midnight rose RW/M and polar blue RW/M) had to admit that the maple is just perfect for me.

So here I am waiting on delivery of a Satin Moc Sand Maple PRS Silver Sky. Years of playing. And to be honest I always went into the decision having predecided a look or tone I felt I needed. Like would go into the process thinking I want a SG and not really consider others. But finally learned that lesson to just play the things first and make up mind later. When I started this latest purchase journey there was no way on earth I was getting a maple PRS. But I couldn't be happier....well...if I could get it with moons or clay dots my happiness would be doubled...but still I'm coming around on the others too now LOL.

I put the warts in my story for those who probably feel like me and wish they'd have some different look options. I honestly never thought I'd own one. I hate signatures, maple, birds, pointy headstocks. But couldn't be happier LOL. I'm still dreaming of a non Mayer version with clay dots or at least moons. Would snatch it up in a heartbeat (as long as has same neck LOL).

just a quick post to let you all know I have joined the PRS owners club. It is my first guitar, just starting off on the long road to learning to play.

Having been in lockdown for ages and packing in the game of golf I decided to find a new hobby, so what better than to play guitar and annoy the wife

Just bought a SE Standard 24 in Tobacco Sunburst today and it arrives on Monday, cannot wait to get my hands on it.
Was looking at other guitars over the last 2-3 weeks, even ordered a Fender but sent it back as it was faulty, marks in paintwork and a gouge on the fretboard.

Hopefully I have made the right decision about the PRS, seems no one has a bad word about them, and I will be looking to pick your brains in the future.

I’ve been playing for 30 years. I gigged for a while, taught for a while, but mostly just play for fun these days. I bought an SE C24 in charcoal burst last summer and an SE P20e in December.

New to the group ... I’m a business attorney in North Florida ... have played on and off for some 53 years and just picked up my first PRS a week ago, and now have been compelled to buy a new McCarty SC 10 Top! Amazing guitars. I have been playing Strats, LPs, and Music Man Albert Lees (great guitars too) ... also own an Ibanez John Scofield JMS 100. On the acoustic front I have a few Martins and a couple if Taylors ... only play my Martin 00-18 and 000-28ec. Amps? A couple of Mesas (Fillmore and California Tweed) and phenomenal but lesser known Vintage Sound Amps (hand-built in Gulf Breeze, FL) Princeton-sized 20w and 35w versions.

I look forward to learning a lot on the PRS forum!

Welcome Brian! I too am new to the PRS world and must say, have never played a guitar that felt this way. Got my first on Feb 10, second on March 9 and a third is on layaway. Looking forward to pix!

Hi from Maryland!

I don't own a PRS (yet) but I have been glued to watching videos and learning about them.
I tried a Silver Sky Maple and a Core Paul's Guitar today at a music store to get rid of my GAS.

But it only made it worse. These guitar were by far the best I have held.

The SS neck and playability felt amazing and exactly like my current guitar. The real star was the Paul's Guitar. I couldn't believe how great it felt. It is incredibly acoustic and I did the tap test (that PRS does in videos) and holy crap.

Welcome to the slippery slope ThePanda! Once you PRS you'll never settle for less (PRS, if you use this, I want a Private Stock guitar in payment)!

Hi. Michael here, down in San Antonio. Just started to try and learn how to play the different guitars I have, 2 acoustic and 3 electric. Just got my SE24 in translucent blue a couple days ago. I have always loved the guitar, the sounds it can make in the right hands. I’m a fan of, among others, Prince, Clapton, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, EVH, Jimmy Page, and a lot of blues players. I’m on the downhill side of things so I’ve heard a lot of great players and some bad ones in my life and just thought the time was right to invest in some guitars and try to learn how to make them sing. Glad to be here. Open to any and all suggestions and any knowledge anyone wishes to throw my way. Peace.

Congrats Paul!! I too have played for decades (unimpressively), and now that I have my PRS's, I don't want to touch my other guitars and can play things that I found too difficult on other axes! These things play like a dream! Welcome to the PRS jungle, you can never leave!
