Got this in my email today from Premiere Guitar Magazine.

These are good articles. Re: cleaning a guitar's finish, I completely agree with the recommendation that the smartest thing is a damp microfiber cloth followed by a dry one, the less rubbing and friction, the better. In fact, for many years I've only used cleaners and polishes when absolutely necessary. My basic rule is "do no harm." The damp cloth meets that requirement. If I need to use polishes or cleaners, most of which do employ abrasives, solvents and other chemicals, less is more.

Finished wood doesn't need to be potchkeyed around with very much. The more you do, usually the worse things get.
