A friend of mine has some McCarty hollowbody pickups that he bought and never installed. I'm thinking of taking them off his hands for a small price but first want to get some info on them. I would be putting them in a mira. Thanks

I don't know if there is any difference between the Hollowbody version and the standard McCarty pups. I've got a McCarty neck in a maple/mahogany guitar and love it. The first time I had ever played one was in an old school Swamp Ash Special. It was the smoothest, roundest tone. I just noodled for ever on that neck pup.

If they are the McCarty Archtop pickups that were used in the HB and Archtop lines for a long time, they are an underwound version of the McCarty pickups. That's to say they are a low power PAF style pickup. They were two-conductor, so not coil splittable. I find them to be one trick ponies tonewise, but they sound great at what they do. ;)

they are Mccarty archtop pickups. i decided to pass on them. thanks for your help guys!
