So I stopped into Carters Vintage while in Nashville and let me start by saying what a fantastic store. Not only do they have tons of amazing guitars, but the feel and vibe is old school neighborhood guitar store. Everything was in reach and you don't get the stink eye for taking down anything including high end gear.

So I am scoping electrics and I see a PRS acoustic on the wall and have to try it. Feels and sounds amazing, so good. After a few minutes I check the tag and it was super reasonable , more so that I thought and they were willing to discount as well.

Now incoming is a 2010 Ken Fisher labeled Tonare Grand. Super clean except for a few finish checks on top. I know nothing about what woods are in it and once I get it will post pics so maybe you all can help. I do think it might have the carbon rods in it? And the Ameritage case alone is a work of art, feels like stank could roll on it

Anyways it will be waiting for me when I get home from vacation, pics to follow. If anyone has one or knows anything about these I am dying to hear it.

You bought yourself a vacation present? o_O That's a brilliant idea! We need pics.

Congrats! I'm continued to be blown away with the Acoustics.. they are simply amazing and way under appreciated.

That seems like an invitation to take vacation in Texas.

No Experience this year so what else is a guy to do?!?

Sweet, Pete! Enjoy your trip! I'm doing a long weekend in a couple of weeks. Road trip north so the Mrs can see her aging aunt. I figure a 3 day weekend, out of town, is the same thing as a vacation!

Nice -- so I can't figure out whether you got a private stock or an SE (is there anything in between?). Whaja get, whaja get?

I want to spec a seven string acoustic. Do you think PRS would be able to do that?

Damn you! Jealous...and you leave us hangin' for pics while you're on vacation? Real nice, buddy, real smooth. :D
I played a really nice one at Martin Music when I was down there last fall. Still haunts me a bit. Coco back and sides. If that one ended up at Carters, you're a lucky man.

Dibs! :p

I looked at the dealer photos a little closer and it appears mine is the Tonare Grand standard, never knew there were so many variations til I dug into it. Flamed mahogany back and sides with the cocobolo fingerboard and headstock face. No electronics which is fine with me. Can't post pics from here, photobucket bites. Should have it in my hands hopefully Saturday afternoon when we land back in CT.

Should also have another one waiting for me too......busy week but this one was a trade.......

PRS acoustics are the real deal...you're gonna love it. The models with the nonadjustable carbon trussrods are special.

I agree with Tosca. I had one of the early Tonare Grand Customs, and I now have a PS Tonare Grand, both equipped with the carbon fiber rods.

The great thing about them is how amazing they sound, and with the carbon fiber rods, the necks simply never move out of adjustment. Best acoustic guitar neck stability I've ever experienced. I also think the carbon fiber rod enhances the tone a bit; the guitars sound very "woody" because there isn't a vibrating piece of metal inside another piece of metal as you get with a normal truss rod.

I would guess that you'll enjoy the guitar -- a lot!
