It was a real pleasure doing business with Eric Martin again. :biggrin:

I hope it has a swift and save journey over the big pond, as I can't wait to finally hold it in my hands. Eric raised my expectations about this guitar so high, that I'm a little anxious it might not live up to it in reality 100%.

As I'm used to .009 strings, he promised to give it a pro setup. I told him that my other guitar was set up by PTC, but he said he's up for that challenge :box: Can't wait for the result...

I'll keep you updated.

P.S.: I hope Eric doesn't mind me using his pics.

That is gorgeous! Congrats. Let us know what you think when it shows up.

I've never been a huge fan of blue guitars, BUT FBJ is one of my all-time favorites.

Thanks everybody

Same with me. I usually prefer amber and similar hues, but FBJ with a natural back and such a beautiful top, I couldn't resist

If you love .009s, play them and love them! If you put .011s or .012s on for the extra piezo power, you will love it in a whole new way. Enjoy!

Thank you for all your kind words.

One questions that bugs me while I'm still waiting for the guitar to arrive is: Will I like the 53/10 on the long run?

Although I'm a metal guy, I prefer alnico to ceramic, but still like really powerfull pickups that nevertheless clean up well when turning down the volume pot.

So, regarding the 53/10 as I see it without actually having played them:
  • alnico --> check
  • clean up well when turning down the volume pot --> probably
  • enough power for metal --> ???
What do you think?

I had an MEQ with 53/10's and thought them slightly thin and weaker than I like. Great sounding pickup but for really high gain they did not chunk as well as I had wanted. Nothing a pup swap won't cure if you don't like em.

So, did you replace the PUs in your MEQ in the end? If yes, which ones did you put in?

Will different PUs still work with the 5way-switch?

Just picked it up from the customs office, so I haven't had much time for a test drive, yet.
But my first impression is just WOW :rock:
The FJB finish looks quite different under varying light conditions, but always looks unbelievably like your favorite pair of washed out jeans.
The guitar looks stunning, is light like a feather but doesn't sound like that unplugged. All the sound and sustain you'd expect from a really great PRS is there.
It might take some time to get used to the pickups, as I'm more of a metal guy and used to high-output PUs.

Has somebody changed the PUs on his P22 to something more powerfull, yet?
