Incoming! And Out of production limited edition at that

It just arrived. Box is a little on the small side, meaning there's not much as room as I would like for packaging foam/peanuts to be in place, surrounding all sides of the guitar, to cushion the guitar itself, from bangs and drops. But box looks to be in good shape, no tears or gouges. So maybe it was handled gently.

Anyways, I am located in the Northeast USA, it's winter, so I am going to follow recommended practice of keeping the box sealed for a few hours and letting the whole thing acclimate to normal temp and humidity in my music room, before I even open it. Will post a follow up w pics later this evening after it's acclimated and I unbox it.

I unboxed it and confirmed it suffered no damage during shipment. Inspected it and it is in Mint condition as advertised. Plugged it in and everything is working as it should. It weighs in at 7lbs 10oz on my postal-rated home scale.

The color of the finish is noticeably darker in person than in the listing photos. I'll admit it is bothering me. I really liked the lighter yellowish color in the listing photo, but this darker color not too much. I guess I will see if it grows on me after some time.

Check out the 2nd pic of the overly large capacitor used on the Master Tone pot. The size is due to it being designed to handle up to 400 volts, which is more than what is needed in a passive guitar circuit. Interesting that they decided to use that cap during the manufacturing process.

Congrats! Color aside, sounds like you got a good egg ;~)) Enjoy!!

Congrats. I’m pretty sure if you put the BB code from Imgur into the text box, your image will appear here.
Thank you. It took me awhile to figure out where to find the option in Imgur to copy the BB code. The Imgur developers made it incredibly convoluted. I had already seen that there is a thread here about how to post images from Imgur, but that thread does not cover the necessary details that I just discovered. I will post those details in that thread shortly so others can benefit from it.

Love the guitar on the right! I know same guitar. It’s one of the more challenging issues when buying. Of course you want to show the best of a guitar being sold which usually means tons of un-natural lighting and I get it. When buying I always ask for a picture in natural lighting.

The one on the right is how it looks in real life to me. Actually, in real life it is actually darker than how my photo of it came out. So once again an example of how it is difficult to accurately capture in a photo, the accuracy of the color of an item in real life. So the color of this guitar is much darker than as advertised by the seller (picture on the left). Yes, I know the seller didn't do anything deceptive, it's just the nature of how different cameras will capture/display the same color differently from one another. Plus as you said, the influence of the kind of lighting present in the room at the the time the photo was taken.

I'll caveat my statement about "the seller didn't do anything"... I myself am a seller of guitars on ebay and Reverb, etc. And when I am taking photos of the guitar that I plan to sell for the listing, I will review those photos to see if the color showing in the photo i took is too far off from the actual color, and if I think it is, I will reposition the guitar, move it in or out of more natural light, and/or place the guitar under more overhead light from a light fixture, retake the photo, and re-evaluate the new photo, and repeat the process as necessary to get an improved image. All for the purpose of trying to ensure the color in the photo is not **far off** from the color of the guitar in front of me. Yes, you can't get it exactly the same, but you can retake and adjust lighting to ensure it's **not far off**. I feel the seller didn't do that due diligence in this case.

I just took it outside and snapped a pic with it directly in the morning sunlight. See pic on right side below. Definitely that daylight brightens up the color, but it still doesn't come off as light in color as the seller's photo (on left side). By the way, the photo i took you see on the right, is lighter in color than what my own eye saw, so my camera itself is adding some brightness.

I didn't really have time to play it last night. Just plug it in and verify the electronics were working.

I just put it on a strap and was playing it to feel it out. Very comfortable ergonomically, which does match my expectations. I already have a SE CE24 Maple Top and a SE CE24 Satin Std, which are 2 of 3 my favorite guitars, ergonomically. This one is right there with them - although the Satin Std edges both of the other two out just because it's slightly thinner body (because there's no top wood of any kind) makes a discernable difference in how it sits on me, in a great way.

Anyways, it's got a noticeably nice full tone acoustic-wise (again, I am not plugged into an amp right now).

Strumming away, I stumbled onto a cool chord progression that I think could be the basis of another original song to present to my band.

This is helping me warm up to this guy and look past the darker finish color that I wasn't expecting.

I’m no expert on SEs, but Standards and Customs should have the same thickness.

Just to be clear, my comment is specific to SE **CE24** Standard, not a SE Custom 24 Std. I don't have experience with a SE Custom 24 Standard, so I can't comment on it.

The SE CE24 Standard has no topwood. It's a couple millimeters less thick because of it. It's small, but you can feel it when worn on a strap. I own one of those and a SE CE24 Maple Top, so I am able to A-B compare them easily. The Std is just a tad less thick.

That seems unusual to me. Then again, my only experience is with US-made PRSs. With those, there’s no difference in thickness.
