I'm That Little Old Lady.

My little VW vs all your Porsches
It doesn't have to be either-or.

Dad had a VW microbus for a decade & a half starting in '62. My first car was a Karmann-Ghia that my brother totaled. My second car was another Karmann-Ghia that my other brother totaled. About a decade later he bought my Porsche for me (& got reimbursed).

I got this little demon. Goes 0-60mph

Ha ha ha my situation parallels yours....kind of.......I have two company vehicles and if wife and I go somewhere together we take one of her cars.

I need a heavy duty vehicle for when my sons and I go dirt biking to pull dirtbike trailer or if I need to haul one of my machines across town.

I have an old Ford e350 van and we've owned it for 15 years or so???

I probably put 1000 miles on it a year, seems silly for me to make payments on a new vehicle just to leave it sit???
The average age of my cars is 16.

We had over 659,000 on our 2500 GMC Sierra 2500 HD truck/diesel engine . This truck was those equipped with all the creature comforts and had a reputation for reliability and durability!

It had a 6.6L Duramax engine.

That was my most favorite truck. I cried when he sold it but it went to a good home. I loved detailing that truck until it looked new. A favorite summer weekend activity.

Absolutely love detailing cars and trucks. It’s a really satisfying thing to turn around and look at what your hard efforts can produce.

I am the one with the toothpicks, ear swabs and whatever other tool I can find to dig into all those nooks and crannies of the dashboard etc. it’s very satisfying!

You're not alone. I like detailing my cars, too! It's kind of a Zen experience. I used to show my BMWs at club events, and always won the top prize (which was basically not much of anything, but it was fun).

One day many years ago, my mother came over and went into the garage to see what the heck I was doing. As it happened, I was using a toothbrush on the inside of my wheel wells.

Yeah, I know, pretty crazy. But there was a part with a difficult piece of dirt of some kind. She looked at me quizzically.

Anyway, I said to her, "Next I'm going to go at the engine compartment with this brush and Q-tips. Every nook and cranny has to be perfectly clean, because they'll stick Q-tips in difficult-to-reach spots to check."

She said, "Do you think you'd pass that test?"

🤣

RIP, Mom, we all miss you around here.

The more tedious something is the better I like it. It’s the ultimate attention to detail.

Things just have to be perfect. I know that it’s virtually impossible to be perfect. I just can’t help myself. The end results are amazing though.
