Currently I have a 2003 CU22 and a 2005 CU24. I have grown quite fond of the CU 24 and that is my go to guitar. So needless to say the CU22 just sits there most of the time.

I have always wanted a singlecut and have seriously been thinking about selling the CU22 to help fund that. Now I'm not in the position for a 594 but have seen some nice looking singlecut browsing around the net.

Been looking at a couple 2001 & 2002 Pre-lawsuit singlecuts. What differences are there between these and the CU22 besides the obvious?

I think the single cut is a completely different guitar than the CU22. Very different feel and balance and I feel the tone is meatier. I like them, but play the double cuts more often.
It would be more different from the CU24 than the 22 is - hard to say if that would cause you to play it more.

There are some singlecuts with two piece bridges on reverb. Not 594’s but 245’s. Those look really sweet to my eyes right now. I’d love to get one in my hands

I mentioned two piece bridge earlier but I have a prs stop tail and it’s great. I’m just projecting my GAS

I don't know much about the singlecut models. What I am seeing from googling is that the early singlecuts were just called singlecuts and the ones I'm looking at 2001-2002 were prior to the lawsuit. Are they McCarty or just singlecut? Are the ones from 2001-2002 good? The ones I'm looking at say the pickups are 7s. Some info on these early 2000s singlecuts would be greatly appreciated and how they compare to a CU22 even better.

Thank you

They’re all good.

Pre-lawsuit doesn’t really mean anything. Just a term made up by sellers to somehow make their guitars seem more desirable I guess.

Mccarty’s From that time period will virtually all have vintage style kluson-looking tuners.

There are some nice Single Cut Trems out there !!! highly recommend looking at those
Slightly thicker body than the CU22 still 25" scale most have WF necks

I had 2000 and 2001 Singlecuts. Fantastic guitars, very meaty, capable of lots of different musical styles.

The later 2 piece bridge models have a more vintage vibe, if that helps in deciding between them.

Chuck Levin's still has some NOS SC245s in stock (upgraded with 58/15 pickups by PRS), they have one in royal blue, and a McCarty sunburst (I was just looking at them).
