Hey all, I'm over my anxiety attack and recovering slowly. So i have a question regarding the SE Kestrel and Kingfisher Basses.

Ok, i have a few questions:

-Why don't i see a lot of chatter about them?
-Are they any better than the competitors in the same price range?
-I forgot what my third question was:oops:

I've only played a Kestrel and I thought it was a great little bass. I think it depends on if you prefer a routed body or if you like the more classic look with a pickguard initially. The pickups are for sure different between them as well.

A friend of mine did a video review of the Kestrel

I'm not sure that the @shinksma notification will work, as it appears the "@" function has been spotty on notification of said member. If it does work, maybe he can chime in. His wife plays one (Kingfisher, I think). If the "@" doesn't work, you may want to send him a PM. He and his wife have good things to say about it.

@bodia , I did not get any kind of notification, but happened to see this thread anyway!

Yeah, the Kingfisher is a great bass - for the money, and just flat out period. My wife gets to play other folks' basses occasionally, and is so happy to return to the Kingfisher.

It gets the tone we like. I have no idea if it nails classic P-bass or whatever tones, just not enough of a basshead, I guess - it does what we need it to do.

I'm tempted to pick up a Kestrel for her, because who doesn't need more guitars?

Now I'm torn.o_O Dave's has both a Kestrel and a Kingfisher in "Excellent" condition for the same price. the Kestrel is Metallic Red and the Kingfisher is a Natural. Both are very appealing to me, but I can only afford one. Not to mention the wife will blow her top if I buy either one without her knowing about it. I already have a 5 string Ibanez that I like, but I want the continuity of product with a PRS Bass to go along with the 245, CU24 and A55E I already have. I know you guys will steer me to buy something,;) but which one. I guess I'll figure that out once I know I have the cash in hand to make the sale.
