So this is my most prized PRS "Judith", named after my Mom. A little back story on this guitar. In 1995 I had just graduated HS and I had never had a "real" guitar so as a graduation present my Mother took me to Garrett Park Guitars in Annapolis and told me to choose. I was instantly drawn to this CE-24. I didn't know anything about guitars at all but purple is my favorite color and when I saw her I knew she was the one. I played this guitar at hundreds of shows over the years in various bands, not knowing any better I would leave it in my car after gigs…even in the dead of winter…ugh. In 1998 I noticed it was buzzing everywhere and no matter what I did it didn't help so I drove over to Stevensville to let John Ingram have a look. I sat there nervously in the waiting room like a parent waiting for news on a sick child. When John came back in he had a disappointed look on his face. "Has this guitar been exposed to extreme hot and cold temperature"? He asked. "Holy Sh*i" I thought. I told him about leaving it in the car and he just shook his head and said he would be back in a few minutes with my guitar, he also let me know that this kind of damage was NOT covered under the PRS warranty. I was almost in tears.
A few minutes later John appeared with my guitar sporting a brand new 24 fret maple neck, the new neck even had the ebony tuner buttons rather than the chrome ones that came with it in 1995. He looked at me and in a stern tone said "don't ever leave your guitar in your car again" and "have a good day kid". I was floored!!! I was just this young guy who screwed up and I was treated like a rock star and charged nothing. John breathed new life into my most prized instrument still to this day. I still play her all the time and the only mod I have done is replace the HFS and VB pups with Dragon I's. This guitar has been played to death and while the frets are practically new the finish has seen better days. So the question is:
Should I sent her to PTC and have her slicked up with the V12 treatment as well as the new knobs, tuners, etc? Please let me know your thoughts. I've added some pics below before and after I just cleaned her up today
