Hi all. I'm new to the forum and have a question for all you PRS aficionados.
I have recently purchased a used 2013 SE Custom 24. The pickups have been swapped out. What is in there are 2 Mira Pickups. They are both marked PRS USA, one is marked Mira Bass 3153 and the other Mira Treble 3152. I cannot for the life of me find any info nor reference to these pickups on the net If anyone can help me, I would be most appreciative.

From what I understand there just relabeled US pickups used for core/US Mira’s I’m trying to remember if they were Dragons 1’s or 2’s relabeled. Great pickups btw. Others I’m sure will chime in with a better description than mine. Have fun with your new axe.

Thank you for your prompt response Birdofprey. Let's wait to see if anyone else can shed some more light on this issue.

PRS doesn't really release much information on their pickups. They put out a lot more information these days than they have in the past. Here is a thread where those pickups are discussed.

SC245's without covers.
If they were Dragon I's, there would be DOZENS of gutted Miras all over NE New Jersey.

Yes, Mira Core pickups are SC245 pickups without covers. Dragon 1s were out of production when Mira's first came on scene. The pickups you have are a hot PAF and will work for a wide variety of genres.

Thanks for the info guys. In my SE Custom 24 I find them quite bright sounding. This is without the coil tap engaged. I haven't decided whether I like them or not yet. I would like them a tad darker.

Yes they are bright, but some of that is because of the design of the Mira. It is a thinner body than the other guitars. I put McCarty's in my Mira and got what you were seeking, a darker tone. If you don't feel like you have to stay all PRS, SD 59's work well in the Mira.

Every guitar responds differently to pickups. I have a DGT SE I put a Metal bridge 57/08 neck combo and it is a dark horse. Much darker than I was expecting.

Yes, each guitar will have it's own unique response, but there are also trends we can say "in general" are true. Your DGT is thicker than the average guitar model and the Mira is thinner. That is one of the reasons yours is dark and his is brighter.

I have a set of SD 59s in my SE Custom 24 at the moment. The Bridge Pup is good, the Neck is just too dark. Up at the 10-12th fret there is no articulation it just booms.
I'm thinking of maybe the neck Mira pup with the SD59 in the bridge might do the trick.
I'll give it a bash.

Might try lowering the neck pickup a bit on that side. They are beefy, full sounding pickups, but I find the ones in my Mira remind me a lot of the good SG T-Tops in tonality. Great rock pickups. Paul’s demo of the CAD amps shows him using a stock Mira as the test guitar they used primarily to check out the amps. That says a lot about what Paul thought of the tone. I think they’re really good pickups, and kept them in mine with just a little height tweak.

Miras are great pickups but work best in darker guitars IMHO love them in my SCT and they sounded great in a DGT also , In a Mira 57/08s or McCarty's are the ticket
