I wish PRS made an S2 Hollow body II.

I think I'd prefer a McCarty 594 style, though I need to play the 24.594 and the 25 scales side by side a bit. I've never been sure about the piezo, and that's been discussed before. I also wish PRS would start making this S2 Hollowbody II in 2024 years ago. That would give me a nice selection of used guitars I could choose from -AND- USA electronics. Heck, an S2 might even be favorably priced compared to an SE suddenly (due to things whose name we dare not speak). An S2 HBII doesn't feel like a thing that fits with the S2 line up so Prolly not gonna happen. Still, a guy can wish. USA made, USA electronics, USA love and care, S2 pricing. OK, rambling wish list over.

S2 pricing for a hollow body? I don’t think we would like that price. My guess is it would be around $3k. Demand won’t be there man.

I wouldn’t be opposed to the idea tho!

I still think s2 and CE need to ditch the white birds. Let’s do moons or MoP birds. And let’s move on from the se tremolos installed on s2 and CEs. Make it all core level.

Agreed with all the points raised that say it’s unlikely. I also feel the same about the white birds. If moons or MOP is not cost effective, dots look great. I know. PRS. Birds. Just a whim of a thought. Also, the point about 24.5**” vs 25”. I was pretty sure I could feel the difference. Going back and forth between my Santana III and KL 380, I think maybe not. I kinda think the 24 vs 22 frets might be what is noticeable. Anyway, I’ll eventually stumble across a nice used core HBII at price I can’t refuse.

I had an SE Hollowbody II Piezo (bought in summer 24, sold in spring 25).
My experience: very well made (China) , versatile in sounds (a very fine balanced LR Baggs piezo system),
the low turn pickups (58) sounded good to my ears („jazzy“ a bit, bridge pu a tad country, too).
For me a great guitar for a gigging musician ( i used it in orchestra, i only had to bring one guitar to play electric and
acoustic sounds…..great!)
Ebony fretboard, real wood binding…..just fine!
Why i sold it?
I bought the (relatively new) SE semihollowbody /piezo……more frets(24), tremolo (or, as i say: vibrato unit), a bit slimmer, the neck less chunky ( i prefer the wide thin profile like in my USA S2) and it plays and sounds really great. The craftmanship of this indonesian built guitar is flawless.

I’ve had both the core and the SE hollow bodies. It pains me to say this, but I preferred the SE and still have it. I don’t think I’ve played very many archtops I’ve liked better, except a full depth 16” L-5. I think they’re doing very well selling the SE’s. Like B minor I’ve used it in the pit to save space. I’m not seeing a big market for an S2. Hell, they found the S2 semi-hollows a hard sell and I love mine.

I imaging the S2 would have to be built similarly to the SE (laminate construction, veneer top) with US pickups and electronics. Maybe a nitro finish? I can't imagine the U.S. factory doing a much better job than China from a quality control perspective on these. Mine is near flawless. It would also likely cost PRS a small fortune to build the machines that mold the laminate tops/backs, as I don't believe they make any laminate tops in the U.S. (but maybe they do?)

I'm curious whether or not they'll just halt construction if these unmentionables don't disappear in a timely manner. No one is spending $4000USD on an SE. Maybe they'll only be available in their EU market or move production to Indonesia?

If production doesn't move to Indonesia, it would make perfect sense to create an S2 version, built the exact same way as the SE, and just fill it with U.S. electronics and sell it for $3000.

A hollow body with that classic vibe would be awesome-and if it came with USA electronics, even better

I think a mahogany body maple top hollow body S2 could be done at a price point that would sell. I would be interested if it had a Pattern neck profile. I would be more into the complete line of S2 guitars if they had Pattern necks.
