I wish I would’ve got...

I wish I would’ve gotten one of those limited semi-hollow SEs in silver sparkle with the ebony board, Phase II tuners, and Bigsby.

I kept/keep waiting thinking it was eventually gonna be a $350 guitar... what can I say? Sometimes I’m wrong.

While looking for a picture to post, I came across a used one at GC ($699!) and.... this uh... what can only be described as a Cinemax soft core porno:

Oh, what to do?

I've been wanting one of those in Silver Sparkle for a while as well. I saw the GC one has, but it's had some changes including both pickups(the neck looks like a covered P-90) and the pick guard.

Yeah, neither of which would bother me.

I seem to remember you GASing over a pair worth ten times (or more) my focals?
I’m happy though, never going to make a living off of music so they do just fine

Generally, the extra cost in a monitor brings more power to fill a larger room, more bottom end accuracy/reach and excursion, and as the price goes up things like drivers and amplifiers become more esoteric, thereby reducing various types of distortion.

This kind of accuracy matters more for the mastering for broadcast that I do, and I periodically upgrade my monitoring solution (partly because it’s fun!).

But a quality small monitor like the focal is perfectly capable of accuracy in the frequency range they were designed for, and they certainly have sufficient power for smaller rooms, desktops, etc. (mine’s 33’ x 14.5’, kind of a mid-sized room).

You’re hearing more clarity and accuracy than you were before, and that’s all to the good. There’s no downside! The small focals are monitors you can trust. Not only that, but guitar amps are 100 Hz - 5000 Hz things. Thus accuracy in the lower midrange and midrange is what you want, and certainly the focals are high quality and give you that.

Hit records are being mixed every day on small monitors like yours.

I hesitated just a little too long on a Graveyard 2...those were amazing, gone in a heartbeat, and I still haven’t seen any up for sale used.

There’s another model I covet...but I may have an opportunity to correct that soon.

I also wish I bought another of the early core Angelus customs...spectacular guitars.

Yup. Finally removing one of my regrets from this list...any guesses? (hint: not one of the two specifically mentioned above)

Another hint?
