I was not ready for the Tremonti treble pickup.

I have been upgrading my SE lately with USA parts because why not? I love how it sounds but wanted a bit more aggression. I watched video reviews of the Tremonti treble pickup and liked what I heard. So I pulled the trigger and bought one. I installed it last night and wow, I was not ready. The difference in volume between the Tremonti and the 85/15 S still in the neck position is massive, I wasn't able to pick up on that in the videos and no one locally had a Tremonti to try in person.

I adjusted the pickup height and it leveled it out some but it still massive. I'm also going to get used to having a clean tone that still has some distortion to it. But as this guitar has been my metal/rock guitar that will be fine. The sounds it makes with some distortion now is exactly what I was looking for though and I'm very happy I did the upgrade. This may be my last pickup swap though as my soldering skills are functional at best. There is some ugly stuff going on in the electronic cavity now but at least it works, properly shielded and cable managed to my best ability.

That's my story for today.

Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree, and now successfully a solo artist, had a PRS Baritone made with a Tremonti bridge pickup, I believe, specifically because it was such a monster.

Cool!

Now I am reminded I want a core Tremonti, of course...

Probably my favourite pickup of all time. It cuts really well without sounding too shrill, which made it perfect for a Floyd Rose equipped guitar. Although it can be a bit woofy, but rolling the bass back a bit will fix that.
