I have sinned against PRS again - NGD

I've been looking really hard at adding another Flying V to the five I already have.
I've also been looking really hard at a Goldtop... a Heritage H-150 Custom Core.

UPDATE: I'm the proud new owner of a 2025 Gibson Custom Shop Flying V in a local (Chuck Levin's) exclusive finish called "Watermelon King". Sin big or go home. hahaha

A guitar stand made to look like a tractor! Awfully hard to beat that.

I have one that looks a lot like a couch, but you see them everywhere. Common as dirt.

I, too, own non-PRS items, but do I show them off here?

No. Because I'm a nice person.

"What are you talking about? You're a terrible person!"

"You're not exactly helping me out here."

"That's not my job, man."

"Well what is your job, then, man?"

"It's to demonstrate how low you will sink to try to make a joke."

"Then I have failed."

"You always do." 😂

I've been looking into snagging a new Lester for the past couple weeks. Was waffling around between the various Standards - a nice Bourbon Burst, a Bourbon Burst plain top, a Faded, Pelham Blue, maybe Inverness Green...really wanted a Tobacco Burst, but I much prefer the 60s slim taper neck, and tobacco wasn't an option. Was almost ready to pull the trigger on an Inverness Green when the new Standard Double Trouble became available. Within 15 minutes of seeing the announcement, I had one on the way from Sweetwater. Got my Vintage Tobacco Burst, and I love the double white pickups look! They had one in stock with some chaos in the top, which I prefer to neatly striped flames. Just under 9 pounds, too - which I love for a non-weight relieved model (8 pounds 15 ounces, so can round up and call it 9 if you'd like :) ).

Sweetwater being close enough to KY, it arrived this morning. Unpacked and opened the case to the lovely vanilla smell of Gibson nitro, and a top that exceeded my expectations even though I'd seen pics of the exact guitar. Looks to be a one piece back as well.

Plugged in, tuned up...and was initially less than ecstatic. Sounded bright and thin. So, spent some time raising the action, since it was super low, and adjusting the pickup height, and then I found sonic bliss. Played for a bit more, and yeah, it'll be sticking around.

I will say the fret nibs/binding could have been done cleaner - will include a pic. If I didn't like the top and back as much as I do, I'd consider sending it back on principle, but I'm not going to. I am going to sit with it for a day or so and then might contact my Sweetwater dude to see about some compensation for it.

On to the pics!

It's not a sin if it's bourbon burst, that's what I read at least. Beautiful! I have a Gibson Les Paul Standard 60s 2022 in BB. It always goes down smooth.

I have a virtually virgin LP studio mod in satin wine red which plays like a dream, and if you could eat a guitar - you would eat this one first . . . .
(no off color jokes please) but yes I do love my PRS. it is an SE, not a core high end model, and I do admit it plays like butter. the light body is something I question when I pick it up, but this is just my Gibson Paradigm speaking to me.

I bet your John Deere is even heavier than my Gibsons, but if you want a trade I guess I guess I would consider it. I hunt deer and have 200 acres. I could put a few scratches on that pretty tractor, and I know I can drive one of those better than my Gibsons (or my PRS) wanna trade?

that is a very pretty V love the looks of it and would love to try it. since I almost always play on my lap, I doubt that shape is practical for me, but cool guitar, and I bet it plays sweet! l6

And I will gladly and proudly show the other guitars of which I am quite proud which are not PRS. I have overtly proclaimed the quality of play I get out of my PRS SE. and the electronics might be better than my Gibsons. But as a amateur luthier, I am proud of how nicely playable many of my cheapo and project guitars service me and I am proud of each of them. I would hate to think the upstanding musicians here would have any problem with "NON PRS" sharing. I mean it when I say that the pickups 85-15's are damn good in my application though Blackstar box and 40w amp and that neck on this PRS is sweet!! still gibsons are gibsons, and I feel the excellent neck and fret layout when I play them, and I respect everyone here as they would for the most part agree with that statement. cheers to all l6

in short to the original poster, your sins are forgiven as far as me, another Gibson fan goes. bless you l6
