I like to talk extensively to a private party that may have an item on Reverb. Do my research, bypass Reverb, deal with the individual.I've never sold on Reverb, so I don't know how all the fees work...but I heard it's a pain in the a$$. One thing I've done in the past with sites like Reverb is to contact the seller directly. I like to do that anyways just to get an idea of who I am buying from.
Some folks offer to sell directly and bypass the website to avoid the fees. If all looks legit, it can end up saving a bit of money. Not necessarily the most ethical way of doing business, but I guess if they're willing to gamble with the hosting site finding out the seller used it as a way to find potential buyers, then it is what it is.
Of course, doing it this way you lose a lot of that insurance that comes with buying off of hosting sites like the ones out there.
All in all, I'm with Sergio, though....always buy, never sell.
Just sold a Fiore for $1,900. Reverb fees and shipping, $250!! That’s nuts. Anyone suggest an alternative? Only shipped from NY to AL - $105.
+1 for pirateshipWas that using Reverb's shipping label? I can't remember the last time I paid more than $70 to ship something using the Reverb discount. Outside of Reverb I found that the best discounted shipping labels are through pirateship.com. Making an account is free and they give very generous discounts.
Fees suck but it still nets more than selling to a local store or going consignment.
I just shipped a guitar for $29, UPS ground via PirateShip! I charged $75 on Reverb for shipping so+1 for pirateship

Not to Reverb’s level, no. I think you can buy the regular carrier insurance thru them…?Do they offer insurance? Do they honor their insurance?
