So I decided to bite the bullet and I got some wood to build a guitar neck! I got White Limba for the neck and Honduran Rosewood for the fingerboard. The wood shop smelled so nice and there were stacks upon stacks of so many different woods! There were stacks of Ebony, all the types of rosewood (accept Brazilian :() and there was koa, mahogany, limba, and so many different species! It was crazy.
I am providing pictures of the wood and my drying setup: https://imgur.com/gallery/E2FfDtN (drying setup) and the wood up close: https://imgur.com/gallery/6YyGxvP I am so excited to do this! I can't believe I took the plunge and made this a reality! I am really excited to be building and carving and doing all that fun stuff very soon!

Looking forward to what you are building...what's the final guitar gonna be? If this is your first neck time building a neck... plan on it being a practice project...;)

Quilt tops, sapele bodies. Brother-in-law and I gonna build together. He's got a sapele neck blank for me. Fretboard options are arriving Monday...

I'm most likely going to do a normal guitar. 25 inch scale, flatter radiused fingerboard, C shape neck. I am looking for a shop that provides a place wood working but I don't really want my dad spending 100's of dollars for CNC work when I can learn how to hand carve it. But he doesn't want me to hand carve things at the moment.

Looking forward to progress pics of this!

Sweet! I've never worked with Limba. Post pics of the progress and if the admins don't mind, I'll start a build thread of a T-style guitar. If people here are interested in that sort of thing.

Good eye! This is the sinker quilt. The sapele came from him as well.

I bought a flame (curly) maple carve top from him in 2018, great guy. Makes me wish I lived nearby his yard, but probably best that I don’t.

Divorce and financial ruin would most likely be in my future if I did!

The sapelle blanks are really nice pieces too.

He's about an hour and half from me...thankfully far enough away!!
