I needed an extra couple of cables, so went to my local GC. No PRS Cables, I should have known, even though they carry PRS at this store. Also no PRS amps. I don't get it. :iamconfused:

And a surprisingly small selection of Mogami guitar cables, and not even one single Mogami speaker cable (Mogami being my second favorite cables). Not even a Monster cable. This is a platinum GC; I don't do much guitar gear shopping there, but their pro audio department is pretty decent, so I was disappointed with their store stock.

I went home and figured I'd just order what I wanted from the PRS Store. I should have done that in the first place. Found exactly what I wanted, a 25' guitar cable, and a 10' speaker cable. The PRS stuff is priced comparably at the PRS store to the Mogami stuff at places like Sweetwater, and I like PRS cable more.

Then saw that shipping is free. Gotta love that!

It's good to have that resource available.

Guitar Center scared me off when I was trying to make my first purchase on my first guitar and amp. They were so pushy and it made me feel really uncomfortable. I wont ever go back....unless for strings, but still...I do most my shopping on ebay, because I get 5% cash back on my purchases on ebay. The Blackstar ID15 Amp earned me about 15 bucks of ebay credit to spend and I was able to get some Elixirs for free. I also bought that D'addario/Planet Waves Pro Winder, has a string cutter and accoustic plug puller and a winder for strings. But I just checked out the PRS store and I must say, theres lots of cool stuff I saw like; custom tuner pegs, PRS picks, prs straps, pickups, and the pickup covers. I always wanted a pickup cover. I think it accentuates the look of the guitar. I think a little bit later, Ill be looking for parts to upgrade my PRS.

I've never seen PRS amps or cables for sale at GC. Melodee Music in Leesburg, VA is the only place I've seen with PRS cables. Alpha Music in Virginia Beach, VA, another PRS dealer, also doesn't carry PRS amps or cables. Must be a different sales division.

Jack Gretz usually has PRS accessories (dunno about cables), and Willcutt's also carries the cables.

What surprises me about stores not carrying the cables is that they're not exorbitantly priced compared to other premium cables, and they're actually very practical accessories because they're so flexible and good sounding.

You'd think it'd make sense for dealers to carry them.

I've never seen prs cables at long and Mcquade in Canada . Might have to look in to that .

I've only used the PRS store once but I did really like the experience especially compared to guys like GC who can be super pushy and even uninformed about their products.

The local boutique store doesn't carry them, but can order and take receipt of them quite quickly. I often take advantage of this.

I also dig the store, just not the shipping cost. When it cost $17 to ship a $20 tumbler mug, something isn't right.
