I did a thing. Blasphemed, maybe, but did a thing...

So, I believe I've mentioned several times before that I'm a serial guitar trader. It's just what I do to keep myself amused with new toys while remaining happily married. As such, I never personalize my guitars, and have always viewed them as commodities, to be used, played, then turned around and flipped for the next one.

That said, I've also always liked the idea of adding a visual personal touch to one and declaring it mine, to keep for always, because I just love the guitar that much that I know I don't want to trade it. I just never found that guitar.

There's no blasphemy in personalizing a guitar!

Which reminds me of the famous line in A League of Their Own, "There's no crying in baseball!"

Seriously. Your instrument should reflect your personality.

"Les, then why are your instruments bone-stock? Can you possibly reconcile that with what you just said?"

"Certainly. I am a tight-assed, OCD, unadventurous, purist type, and my guitars reflect my craptastic personality. How about you?"

"I'm you. So I agree. You have a craptastic personality. You need to do something about that."

"Oh sure. Now you tell me. Hey, I modded my '65 SG Special."

"That was in 1971."

"It's just like you to keep track of that."

I dig it. I'm more of a yin yang (taijitu) guy myself, but the ankh has a similarly elemental universality and equally timeless aesthetic.

OWNER!!!! I took a scotchbrite pad to the the back of the neck on my very special SE245. So, I feel ya. Mine isn't going anywhere ever!! Plus it feels awesome!!! You do you bro, just another fine example of the freedom we have to express ourselves with a guitar IMHO.

My first good guitar was a Kramer Pacer, black. When it was still weeks new I drilled a hole for a kill switch and swapped out the pickups, and had my cousin paint a demonic ghoul on it. Life was simpler when I didn’t care about value or resale, and my enjoyment of something ruled my psyche.
Nice! I had a black Kramer Pacer, too. Way back in 1985. Traded it in on a BC Rich Eagle in 1986

Totally approve of the Ankh. I also have an Ankh tattoo. Right shoulder.
