So, an offer on a guitar I couldn't refuse presented itself to me and I was scrambling for a way to get it. It just came up on a bad month but its one of those guitars that just won't wait. After a week back and forth I finally THOUGHT my new PRS was expendable. I packed it up ready to dump it off and...I just couldn't do it. They gave me a good offer and when they asked if I wanted to do it I just kept looking at it and almost passed out lol. Anyways, I still needed to bring the other guitar home and the guy selling it can't wait a month so a friend of mine hooked me up. Now I don't make the money some of you crazy Private Stock guys do but I do pretty well, however since I bought the PRS 2 months ago, a new Axe FX II with mfc 101, an EVH Stealth USA(which is a special guitar with a story) and a set of $1500 headphones, Im a bit depleted for the next month or 2 lol. A friend of mine runs a vintage guitar shop over here thats a symbiote with a pawn shop. They hooked me up! He knows I didn't want to sell anything but he also knows how I am. They gave me a loan against the PRS so it will be out of the house for a month but for me its a win win.
This is the first guitar that I just couldn't part with in terms of selling it. This may be a strange story for some to understand but for me its a real happy ending because not only do I get my nos Custom Shop Peavey Wolfgang but I also get to keep my PRS

Yep, looks like you've been on a spree recently. ...and not stopping! ! Congrats. We really need to see pics of the PRS and the new guitar as well, please! !

$1500 headphones? That's another guitar right there!
Please...I don't need to be reminded...lol. The Axe FX definitely sounds better through the AKG K812's but Im not sure if its $1200 better than the beyerdynamics I was using

Bro...I love you, but are you really telling me you pawned a PRS to afford some other stuff?

...All I'm going to say is it was a way better route than selling it lol. Its not like its some dirty downtown pawn shop though and Im long time friends with most of the guys who run it. They are a vintage guitar shop( Empire Guitars) and have ALOT more expensive guitars in the pawn vault than my $5k PRS. I'm an Ed head so when a rare Wolfgang comes up I get all hot and bothered. If I missed out on it I would have never stopped thinking about it lol. My PRS will be fine in the vault for a month or 2, I'm not worried about her and they let me lock the case(even though no one is allowed to touch stuff in the vault)

Aren't pawn shop loan rates really high?

Maybe getting a bank signature loan (no colateral) would be a better choice next time. Those rates are high too, but I'm betting they are lower than pawn rates, plus, you get to keep your stuff in your house and use it.

The three balls in the pawn shop logo mean that "it's 2:1 buddy, you'll never get your sh!t back outta here at all." (David Bromberg)

I know, I know. To each their own and don't judge....

But I see more stuff on guitar forums that blows my mind, based on the way I've decided to live. (No debt. Of any kind. Ever again.)

From financing guitars to raiding 401k accounts and now to Pawning a guitar to afford another. I don't get it, but I suppose whatever works for you and makes you happy.

Ok Ok, I'd be lying if I said you guys weren't starting to make me nervous lol. Its the first time Ive ever done something like this and they made it seem like such a good idea and alternative to what I normally do...sell. If I pick it up within the first month the interest is only $50 so I see no harm in that. After we figured out our finances for the rest of the year I had the budget for another $3k guitar within the next 4 months. This one just happened to pop up a little too soon.
