This is quite comical, I was going to post an "I am back!" thread here today as a new thread, and in searching some stuff before posting, I came across this thread. Apparently, I left and came back once before, almost exactly two years ago, in August of 2014!
So, I am back AGAIN!! Incoming, my **3rd** Original Sewell Head.
This time around it is not Paisley, it is Black with a Charcoal Maple panel. Scored it on Reverb yesterday.
Apparently, when I fall back in love with PRS Singlecuts, and I get another Sewell. It's one of my "things", I guess!
I was mostly a DC 245 guy for a while from 2011 to 2014, and then the Singlecut McCarty came out, and I shortly thereafter bought a second Original Sewell.
Then I go 100% McCarty 594, and have no Singlecuts, and I am happy with my variety of Bogners, Tone Kings, etc. But then I get an awesome Singlecut 594, and all of a sudden (two days later) I go out and buy my 3rd Sewell.
Weird, right?!?

I didn't realize that until just this moment.
Anyway, INCOMING, Original Sewell Head! Excited to be getting one again.
The Original Sewell Head has a special place in my heart, as I have talked to Paul about it several times, and have a very vivid memory of playing one of Paul's guitars through a killer modded Sewell of his, in his home studio with Eric Cummins in April of 2012. It was a 100W version, and we had it at full tilt connected to a 4x12 downstairs in the garage with the door cracked open, and I was sitting on the top of the stairs jamming out, with the sound barreling up the stairs at me, and it sounded really amazing.
The Original Sewell Head has the same lineage as the 25th Anniversary, the HXDA, and the MDT. I have owned an HXDA and an MDT, and 2 Sewells, the Sewell is my favorite, the most simplistic of the bunch, just killer Hot Rodded Plexi tones, the best and most organic I have heard. It also has an killer Master Volume implementation that sounds great a low volumes.
The Bogner HeliosI had was a lot like the Sewell to me, had an effects loop and more diversity, but has that open organic Plexi tone in common. I loved my Helios 50, just traded it on a 594, and miss it already. I was shopping for a Helios 100, but didn't find any deals on used ones, so I went searching for Sewells for a reasonable price, and found one.
I had talked to Doug and Paul previously about adding an effects loop or Reverb, they said it could be done, maybe I will try that this time around, that would be cool.
Looking forward to hearing the 594's through the Sewell!!
