How to pull up tone switch when playing with a pick?

I know it seems like a crazy question, but how do you physically pull up the tone switch in a push/pull, e.g. SE Custom 24, when playing with a pick?
I used a push/pull for the first time in the last couple of days when I got my new SE Custom 24. I'm used to Fender's push/push ones.

The poti knob should offer grip. Good knobs are the O-Rings by Hipshot.
You need to define, if you must pull by thumb and a finger, or if two fingers have the stregth to. The same with push. Which finger tip is the best for that particular task.

Other than that: Once defined, train the muscle memory that it will become automatism. Average number of repetitions is 1,600.
And for your playing: How often it's really necessary to switch within a tune.

Thanks. The knobs don't really offer much grip. It is possible to pull it with 2 fingers, but it's awkward. Push is easily done with the palm.
I find the design of push/push to be much easier to use, and just wondered what others do here to pull up the switch when holding a pick, not necessarily in mid-tune.

I ordered a custom made guitar with pull/push poti (I prefer that term, 'cause you need to pull before you were able to push.). I ended up to require mini switches for my second custom made guitar.
Production guitars - a PRS SE Mark Holcomb and a Peavey HP2 NOS - got above mentioned knobs. And that speeded up to usage of the potis.

I use my thumb to push the pick between the knuckles of my index and middle finger. The fingers push together and “trap” the pick allowing me to use my thumb, index and middle to pull the pot. With practice I’ve found it easy to tuck my pick there and back again with relative ease.

I think the push-push pot design is much more practical; my EBMM Luke III has a push-push volume pot that activates a boost; it's much easier to deal with live than PRS' push-pull (I have a DGT). If I knew I was keeping the DGT forever, I'd likely replace the push-pull with a push-push.

I just hang the back bottom edge of the tone knob with my right middle fingernail (and I keep very short nails). Either one pops right up on my 594 HBII. Pick stays in my thumb/index fingers. Quick and easy.

I changed my wiring harness on my DGT SE with CTS and Switchcraft parts. I also changed the knobs to the core model. The CTS push/pull pot is very smooth. I use my right hand pinky and ring finger to manipulate the tone knob.

Thanks guys.
Yes, it would have been much better with a push/push. Seems like a strange design decision. Even if they had put a little hat on the knob it would have helped a lot.
The rubber band idea sounds like something to try, as I'm very reluctant to modify a brand new guitar!

The old style speed knobs that PRS reintroduced for the DGT core models makes pulling up a LOT easier.

On the guitars with the lampshades, I just swear a lot. Eventually I get them pulled up!

I take the tips of my fingers that aren't holding the pick, and wedge/pivot them under the bottom of the knob. Like you are pulling them up from underneath.

It works pretty well with the PRS carve because the knob has more of a gap at the toward the bototm than the top.

I Just Use The Chain From My Wallet That Goes To My Pants. I Drill The Tone Knob Out Place The Loop In That And Attach The Chain To My Wrist Like A Bracelet. When I Need The Split, I Lift My Hand And It Pulls The Pot Upward. When I Want To Go Back I Just Depress The Pot With My Hand Like Normal.

Another Thing I Do Is Wrap My First Finger Around My Pick And I Can Easily Hold The Pick And Pull Upward With My First Or Second Finger And Thumb And Not Drop The Pick In The Process.
