Just tried using imagur. Why does it not work as the first post describes? I can’t figure it out. Even one lowly guitar forum has an upload feature where they might have 10 participating members that I visit. Has to be an easier way. I even downloaded the imagur app. Too much crap attached to it. No pics from me here. I’m 66 by the way. I would probabaly post more as well. Oh well.

Imgur changes its format from time to time. I’m too fookin dog old to teach new tricks. I’d post more, but it’s a hassle when you’re senile.

Considering the quality of the content you post, I can confidently assert that we are missing out bigly as a result of such obstructions! I will set up an upload path on my server and give you your own folder to post pix to if you want 11Top ;~)) It would be worth it just to see more of your content!!!

I was half joking with my comment because I'm sure everyone here knows how I feel about posting pictures here. No disrespect meant. I just think we should be able to upload pics directly from our devices here like 99% of forums.

I don’t take offense. I’m legitimately asking if you know of a solution. Many small forums allow direct uploads. Many large forums don’t, especially music-centric forums, because users upload copyrighted photos of musicians/concerts.

If we continued to allow those uploads as we did in the past, we’d be litigated out of existence (I pay the server bills and I know what the litigation has cost).

If there’s a legal workaround/solution, I’m all ears. I am not, however, ok with putting the onus on the user.

Dozens of links posted here every day, but somehow the concept of posting a link to a photo confounds some people.

Whilst I might agree that it ain't the end of the world to upload a picture to an image hosting site, get it's share link and come back here to post that shared link it is a couple of extra steps.
And in today's over caffeinated world of instant gratification it's abhorrent to some people...lol.

However I'm not sure I truly buy the copyright and litigation reasons either.
Why?
Well I'm a mod on the Roon Forum and trust me there are literally hundreds of pictures posted every day that would be copyright infringement worthy.
And yet it's crickets from Roon hierarchy if that's ever been a problem or even a concern.
And I can't believe Roon have better and bigger attorneys...lol.
That instant insert image directly from my phone is so sweet though.

I completely understand a company not wanting to take on that kind of exposure and risk. Some yahoo uploads child porn to their servers, they don’t know about it, and next thing you know they’re getting subpoenas and e-discovery demands from a DA. It’s a stupid risk to take when it’s not something at the core of your business, you don’t have the staff to monitor it, and there are simple alternatives available.

Acting like children isn’t going to change it.
