How rare/cool/valuable are fully clear lampshade knobs?

That's what I want to know.

Why do they seem to be unattainable?

Unattainable has a different connotation: that an aspiration to own such a thing might be an unattainable goal. It puts the emphasis on the state of mind of the seeker. Unobtainable is a simple (if likely exaggerated) statement of fact about the relative rarity of the commodity in question.

(And I can't believe I just responded to language usage schoolmarmery.)

You did well, sir! I'm going to unob-my-arse right out of here now.

"I got a pair of clear PRS lampshade knobs for only $1000! I'm so excited to have them. They'll go in my collection cabinet next to my $5000 1999 Klon, my $10,000 1958 PAFs, and my $25,000 1961 AKG C-12."

"Um, OK. You use any of that stuff?"

"Not really. Hey, want to see my collection of vintage typewriters? They're like word processors, only they're mechanical!"

You must be priceless!;)

I have the dark ones on a couple of my guitars and I am thinking about spray painting the back side since some of it is kind of clear and I could make them match the color of the guitar.
